I took flying lessons at the weekend

This picture of me was taken in a hospital a little over a week ago (the day England went out of the world cup on penalties..tut tut). I'm really not sure why I'm smiling tho cos I had just fallen nearly 20 feet off a platform hitting a wall on the way down. Shortly after the photo was taken I went to theatre to have K wires and a plate inserted into left wrist which was broken in 3 places, I cracked 2 ribs, had the hole in my chin stitched up ok but my left nipple took quite a bashing, I'll have to let you guys know whether it still works later! The next day my right hand swelled up so big they took me for a 2nd lot of x-rays on it cos they were sure they'd missed a fracture in that one too but fortunately it was just a ligament injury so thankfully both my arms are not in plaster! There are some pretty embarrassing moments to be had in hospital when you don't have the use of either hand...no I'm not going to spell it out...use your imagination! I was discharged from hospital 4 days later and my right wrist is getting better each day, hence being able to post this message, although it's taken quite a while with only 1 finger at my disposal. The double bummer is I split with my girlfriend of 3 years a couple of months ago so I've got no-one to play nurse now I'm home :?. Although I live with my brother who's been doing me proud, helping me in the bath etc...poor bloke! :P So it looks like I won't be bashing heads online for a while but I'll be checking out the forums and missing it like mad!

That looks painful. The only reason that I can think that you would be smiling would be that you were sure that you were going to die and were only hurt, or they gave you good drugs. Get better, your play is missed (but we are still aiming)

Sorry to hear about girlfriend, Mean. Happens to the best of us. No offense, but between this and that secret goverment biotoxin you drank in the ocean a little while back, please don't feel offended if I don't come and visit, or if I'm wearing a suit of armor when I do.

Tell me about it Spike, it all started the day of the England game...me and a few mates headed off to a party on the beach to drown our sorrows after the match. Had a great time till we decided to walk home about 2am...without a torch, got lost and wondered into the docks. It was pretty dark and we were walking in single file with me at the front flicking my lighter to try and see where the heck we were going. Unfortunately I didn't spot a gaping drop right in front of me, fortunately my best mate Jamie, who was right behind me did. See he's a rather big chap so I didn't really fancy being the one to break his fall if he came down too. It sounds a little comic I know but in actual fact it was not much fun getting outta the hole and trudging a half mile to the nearest road all busted up! 320:

No offense, but between this and that secret goverment biotoxin you drank in the ocean a little while back, please don't feel offended if I don't come and visit, or if I'm wearing a suit of armor when I do.

Ouchie, Mean! My sympathies. If you lived a little closer I'd at least bake you some cookies, or clean your kitchen or something (the rest of the stuff is still up to your brother :) ). In lieu of that, just know I'm thinking of ya and wishing you a speedy recovery! >:D<

Well, as DirtyDeeds, says (and I agree), "get all of your bad luck out of the way at the same time." But you seem to take in stride like a champ, so I have no worries for ya! Between the lady, your bio-adventure and now this, I think ya paid your dues to whomever. Good luck is surely to follow now! Just don't go one of Bot's south florida Great White Shark Expeditions and you'll be fine. Now let's see a new entry for the high score table when you get back!

Man, you get yourself into situations....Are you done yet? Broken bones are just...ick, but they'll mend before you know it and you'll be back to DC. I bet we'd all send you flowers or something, but with the way things have been going for you, you might be deathly allergic to them! A safe bet would be Shan's cookies! Shan: Thanks for the offer, I know you are a fair distance from me but looking at my kitchen I'm considering paying the air-fare :? 320: Yup I agree, fink it's about time I did something about my high score. B_B: Hopefully I'm finished doing myself in for the time being, hey, there's always next year. In the meantime I've been working on a setup that'll allow me to play... 2 pads via USB I can bind to Left and Right which I can work wiv me feet. Yes I'll look a bit like a crab but it's either that or one handed dish washing! Watch this space! :D

Mega-ouch. Medic! MEDIC! This man over here needs a healing. (hope that got a small, non-painful giggle out of ya, as humor truely is some of the best medicine!) Seriously though, I feel for ya Mean, and glad you were not hurt worse. I know as an EMT, I have seen much worse (including folks who ended up as bad off as my 84yo Dad is), and your bud not falling on you was a blessing as well. I would recommend very little posting and no playing for the next week or so, at least until that one wrist is better. And even then, don't think about using the other hand what so ever until the Doc says OK. You can end up regretting that for the rest of your life, instead of just the few weeks it should generally take for it to heal to the point where he says using a KB/mouse is OK.

Wishin' you a speedy recovery Devil! That's a real bummer about the Cup too. Tell me you didn't really land in the hospital on account of hooligan activities! Take it easy and see you in game.

Brother Mean! Thats rough man, you've got to take it easy brother and you'll be back in soon enough. We'll all be here when your ready, don't worry and like spacey said, don't rush it! (Got access to some one to cook for ya? Lots of protien and calcium based stuff for you!) OH, and I'll send you my Zippo, it's gotten me out of few dark spots, so don't go out in the dark untill it gets there. :wink:
