The goal has been met

320 — GMT

Well, eight months ago I set out to find a good company with a track record, good benefits and stability. I even held off on a couple suspect offers and took a contract position to make money in the short-term to see this goal through. I had to deal with all manner of family and friends expressing doubt. And not to mention, me starting to doubt myself. I accepted a position with the State of California in the Department of Education today. The benefits are ludicrous (including a pension). The hours are (finally) reasonable. The pay is quite delicious. And I can ride my bike to work or even walk! I won't know whether this was the right move longterm, but I do know I thought about what I wanted and went for it and got it. The last year has been one of the true trials of my life, leaving my last job and losing a girlfriend of over three years in the process. But now, the future is definately starting to look brighter.

Wow 320, you look that have a story similar to me. Lost my girlfriend ive been with since 3 years, I sell my house, And im looking for a job for an employer worthy of its name with no stress in a place i can use my bike. I did not find one yet tough. But Congratulation for you, it gives me faith! :)

I'll be a network technician. Me and Bot should form our own clan. :? I don't know the full scope of it yet. I will be handling some purchasing and mid-tier support and sys admin. I gave my notice yesterday and my current boss hasn't spoken to me since. He's been talking with my coworker, though. I think he is pretty upset. Doh. I feel a little bad because he has a vacation planned and he can't change it (international travel and all). But, the contract didn't have defined start and end dates and he can't expect no-benefits-havin fools to stick around forever. Kitfox: I hear you man. Obviously, all I can say is stick with it and blow stuff up on DC to de-stress while eating some frites and enjoying canadian beer. You obviously got a brain so it will happen eventually.
