The intent is to swap the current production server for this one after some trials at our home... Therefore a nodefest may be in order to properly test out the box. Plans are in the works for that a week from this Saturday. Please stay tuned.

May as well have a DC logo contest and print up some Tee's with the winning logo. You could sell 'em in the DC merchandise e-store. Could perhaps offset the cost of this major upgrade a little bit anyways. I'm sure some of us would be interested. Maybe a DC mousepad. Looks like some real serious hardware.

I suggest a tournament of some sort, a fund raiser, to offset the costs. One-on-one matches, sanctioned, of course. Double-elmination. A mix of tight and open maps so no class has the immediate advantage. I'll even set up the brackets. $10 donation, maybe $20 with each participant getting a t-shirt (which I could design, if need be). I will match with a reserved slot ($60) to the winner. In addition, the winner gets a special, unique tag added to his/her name, and thus, status immortal...

Dru: If you persue 320's plan, I'll up it by doing the following: Knock 4 months off of my current reserved slot status and give it to the winner. That would put them (so far, with 320's matching) at a full 8 months worth of reserve slot status. As for my reserved slot - you know you'll get another payment or two no later than Aug 1. ;) And for those worried that I might get something for nothing out of this ... I will participate (in order to get the T-shirt!) but the likelihood that I'll win is low. I'm guessing the odds (were we to actually gamble on the winner for this thing) so far would be: 3:4 Fro 3:4 Blade 2:3 Ooo (though maybe we need a ping adjustment here) 2:3 320 1:3 BotFodder (Odds meaning, for example, if Fro wins, every 3 bucks you put in, you'd get 4 back - not a profitable bet as you wouldn't even double your cash - but look at who we're talking about here ... never been anything like a bookie before ... I guess the odds would shift depending on who put up money - and how much - on who ...).

Well the new server does look awesome along with all the words and number. Being the Fire that I am what's all the words and nnumbers mean? :P That is awesome and I agree with the DC shirt and possible underwear Idea. Heck I know I'd buy at least 5 xxx larges with some different insignia's on each shirt. Anyway along with the rest of them thanks for making an enjoyable server and you can bet I'll be on it for a long time.

I didn't think these ideas would be considered gambling, but a player's tournament to see who is/are the best player(s) head to head.

Hehe, often i job i throw UnrealTournament sprees. HEAD SHOT! Or when i am in a Bug Fix fest. Double Kill, Multi Kill, Mega Kill.... Then the Project Manager comes at my desk as i am screeming MOMOMOMOMOMOMOooonster Killl Kill Killl.... lol. Maybe he thinks im psycho :lol: I like to take my life as a game, it makes things fun :D

In a one-on-one setting, anything could happen. I can think of at least a dozen players that could do well. But it seems people prefer the t-shirt/underwear package (underoos?). :wink:

G'day Mates! A little reality check here... what is the item in reality most often used with the phrase "knockback"?? The answer is the same thing that they study in the Philosophy Department at the University of Walamaloo... BEER!! I don't drink beer (or any alcoholic beverages)...which is in part one reason why I am not in the Philosophy Department at the University of Walamaloo! Sorry to be off topic here, but I just wanted to point out that about three quarters down the script it shows second Bruce as saying "Reckon so, Bruce." and first Bruce saying "Sydney Nolan! What's that!". This is backwards it was actually first Bruce who said "Reckon so, Bruce." and second Bruce who said "Sydney Nolan! What's that! " But then again it's been twenty years since I've seen the skit and I may have that wrong. And now back to something completly different...

Ummm.......this may be a stoopid (der) question. I don't know how you are planning on running the server(s) in the future, but with the new server, do ya think we might see the return of the 2K3 mod? From what I remember, the only survivors were those that banded together and worked as a team to complete the waves instead of lone wolfing it for high score bragin' rights. Recent meashin' over "no challenge" was met with some tweaks on the critters, but it would be cool to play this mod again and see some peeps sing a new tune or two. I'd guarantee they would. There is no other mod I have seen that is more frightful or difficult than this one (other than deemer nalis). It's enough to make you wanna rip your keyboard in half.

I second that chyster, it would be cool, and you are right about the teaming up thing. There were many a night when I was a noob and someone would vote 2k3 in and I would groan. that was when I would usually go make a cup of tea and enjoy it while being dead, and spec some of you higher peeps trying to figure out how to stay alive!

Thread hyjacked.........Trying not to reply........arrrrrrgh DENIED! If you want a challange, start a new character and late nite/early morning. the 5 to 7 of us that are on rarely finish a map unless a higher level character comes into the game, like Crazy pitbull james or SSAngel eyes or Ooo. It is fun cooparative play. I have to admit, the challenge is staying alive, not scoring the most points

Ya thats how I cut my teeth on this server over a year ago. I do admit it was tough on the noob, but it gave time for reflection on methods, styles and tactics from those playing. I learned real quick that if I wanted to stay alive, I needed to stay with "The Team". :D

Thats the way it was then too, Bot. It wasn't chosen all the time, but it was a favorite. I was like Em and groan when it was chosen, but I had something grand to look forward to --- staying alive in that environment was tough even for the high level players and being that the monsters keyed on the lowest level player (hunting him or her like a dog) the high level players took interest in keeping the noobs alive. Noobs were like gold.

Longer matches gave better rewards, end game reward was the same I think. Oh, and I watched from where I was ground into powder lying on the floor as they beat it all the time. :D Certain maps were easier to beat than others. I just think it would be cool to try it with all the different classes. All we had back then was the LW players.
