Critical Error: Medic Link Gun jumping into Manta crash

This may be a bug in the Medic Class. While on ONS-IslandHop I convertied my link to a Medic link and wanted to see if it worked while in the Manta. The game crashed instantly when I jumped into the Manta with this critcal error:

"RPGLinkGun ONS-IslandHop.RPGLinkGun (Function Engine.Weapon.GetFireMode:0000) Infinite script recursion (250 calls) detected

History: FFrame::Serialize <- UObject::ProcessEvent <- (RW_SuperHealer ONS-IslandHop.RW_SuperHealer, Function UT2004RPG.RPGWeapon.ClientStopFire) <- AActor::Tick <- TickAllActors <- ULevel::Tick <- (NetMode=3) <- TickLevel <- UGameEngine::Tick <- Level Island Hop <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Realloc <- 10910191 0 FArray <- FArray::Realloc <- 0*2 <- FMallocWindows::Free"

I'd like to get Druid's input and others with similar type history of (RW_SuperHealer...) errors :?

How do you use a link, or any weapon for that matter, inside a manta?

I did not mean you could fire the link gun or any other weapon from within the Manta. But simply lend their ablilities to the Manta. Vampirc and Lightning Rod do. Damage Reduction doesnt.

You dont know unless you try or hear about it.

Critical Error: Medic Link Gun jumping into Manta crash

I haven't looked at any code yet, but I do know that it is only the Link Gun because the Link Gun is the only normal weapon that has a new version specifically for UTRPG (RPGLinkGun), because it had to have the XP-transfer-to-linked-players thing. It had a problem with the function that executes when you stop firing, it seems. One moment while I look at the code...

Update: Well, the code is too scattered to tell what part is screwed up, so until then I suggest you use a different Medic Weapon. v0rTeX is welcome to attempt to figure it out.

Are you sure it wasnt just the Vampirism skill stealing you some health from the vehicle?

I was pretty sure that DR and DB transferred to vehicles along with Weapon Speed and Health Bonus.

I think you mean healing the vehicle. Yes - the skill does it. I don't think the weapon does.

Re:Critical Error: Medic Link Gun jumping into Manta crash

After reading that quote I am starting to wonder. Is it possible the Link Gun chokes on trying to heal a manta because the Medic part of the gun wants to give health to a teammate and the Link part of the gun wants to build armor on a car?

Maybe the two functions try to work at the same time and crash out.
I realize a car and a teammate are two different things but maybe the gun can't sort it out because cars do have a team designation. (Which is why a link secondary can destroy enemy cars in ONS unless you have hijacked them and converted them to your team so to speak.)

Just a thought...

Critical Error: Medic Link Gun jumping into Manta crash

Well, the same variable is used, and I'm sure both Players and Vehicles are both Pawns, but I get what you're saying. And players have a team designation as well, correct? But the problem is that that isn't where the error is. The error is in calling ClientStopFire, which doesn't exactly make sense, considering it happens upon contact. Weirdness... I wonder, if you took out the changed Link Gun (the one that shares EXP) and just had a normal Medic Link Gun, would it work? Something to think about.

Re:Critical Error: Medic Link Gun jumping into Manta crash

That would be my next move.

-Do Infinite Link guns cause the same problem?
-Do healing Link guns cause the same problem?

If the answer to both questions is no then the only other thing medic guns do is have a different health max. And how do vechicles handle health max when a person is not in them?

I actually really like the link, as long as there's another medic on its great, plus the no shaking like the mini. I'm just wondering because I do like to use it over any other weapon and don't want to worry about a crash.
