Is there a sign language version out there somewhere? I know more ASL than Spanish.

Well, I think the Spanish is fine! The subtitles work after the first little bit and I'd much rather read it than listen to bad dub actors. But yeah, thats just me!

Flushed Away was good. The slugs cracked me up.

Cham and I started the Prestige last night (haven't finished it yet, no spoilers please if this starts a discussion!) but so far I like it. It took me a second to recognize David Bowie. Christopher Nolan is an awesome director.

Flushed away wasn't too bad. I like the mime frog, though.

'The Prestige' is pretty good so far. Got it in blu-ray . I didn't immediately recognize Bowie either.

300....whoa.

Very deserving of it's R rating, but man, what an incredible ride! This is one review that could go on for pages, but I'm gonna simply say, go see it. In the theater. Tonight...

cheers.

Given a 12.5yo daughter, who has grown up with medievial living history groups, is more mature in many ways compared to others her age, has had no problems with things like the Jurrasic series (she even watched one of the chucky movies in the middle of the night without our knowledge, and had no problems), loves Bond, etc... what would you say? It is mostly the battles and blood which gets it the R rating? She definitely could handle that.

Speaking of 300... Those of you who have History Channel and HBO, you might want to keep an eye out. There was a 2hr show about the real history behind the 300 (numbers for Leonidas's command were actually around 7000, with 300 of them being Spartans) on last night which I recorded on DVD, and there is a preview on HBO, which I have not yet recorded. Check them out.

Sorry Titanium. The first hour or so of the movie was fantastic, very close to the same Discovery Channel special that Spacey was talking about. It was almost like they lifted or copied scenes. However, for the first time in ages, my wife and I walked out in the middle of the movie, extremely disappointed. It could have been Oscar material but they ruined it with ridiculous BS during the battle. I cannot recommend anyone see this movie.

Ouch, that's harsh... I just came back from the movie and enjoyed it. I love Greek History so I was already pumped for the movie. The stylization is incredible, I love how they made the movie, every battle scene is shot perfectly. The movie stays true to the real story, however there are many parts of the battles that obviously were fictional... like the use of mythical creatures. Even though it's not 100% accurate, it is still quite fantastic.

Spacey, the movie is many battle scenes, there is lots of blood... so it's violent in that manor. There is a plethora of it though.

But anyway, if you love a great story with action then I think you'll like it. It reminded me of the Lord of the Rings, but mixed with Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven. I wouldn't go in expecting to be blown away, but it's still a great movie in my opinion.

OK, maybe I'm being a little harsh, perhaps due to my age, perhaps due to the fact that I used to intensely study both Greek and Roman history. However, I feel very strongly that the producers should have continued along in the same vein through-out the entire movie. I can even forgive the "Goth" like characterization of the Persian leadership, but .................Jabba the Hut/orcs/etc. To me, it lessened/cheapened the heroic achievement of the Spartans.

Any worse than Bond, or Benny Hill (both of which, Av watches with me when we can)?? I know I definitely will... question is whether or not Av will end up going along. Or Becky for that matter, though she wants to see it as well. May be a "see it by myself"... I wish... ... SIGH.

Thanks!

who wasnt?! I have to say that when i heard Gerard Butler was the star i was going to see it either way!! And thats not enhanced body everyone! go see Attila or any other of his movies! like Tomb Raider 2!! Anyways he was amazing!!

as for it supposed to be close to a history movie...never once did it say "Based on a true story." The basis of it was, but it was also made to entertain. and for me it was so far past my expectations!! it was AWESOME!!

Spacey there wasnt any nudity in Bond. i have no idea about Benny Hill but theres alot of nudity...theres graphic violence, graphic nudity and sex, and somewhat of a rape scene. you dont see it but it strongly suggests. i would strongly suggest not taking anyone one thats younger then like 15 to this show.

Well, I guess a lot of people went in expecting some true-to-history epic about the 300, which this wasn't ever intended to be. Frank Miller was the exec producer, and this was his baby. For those who don't know Frank, he's the mastermind and artist behind the sin city comics and movie and he also wrote/illustrated a graphic novel about the 300, which this movie pulls from, almost to the brushstroke. Bear in mind it is totally glamorized, and Frank himself stated that the fighting in the movie was choreographed to be cool and fluid, sexy, not historically accurate. You'll notice you never see the words 'Based on a true story' or 'based on actual events' anywhere in the movie or even it's marketing. So, in this, Demon brings out a good point. Don't go to this if you're looking for a movie experience like Braveheart or Gladiator. It is definitely not that style of movie. If you're looking for an awesome story, with fantastic art direction, action, and characters, I think you'll really enjoy this. Anyway, thats my 2 cents, not meant as a demon-flame

cheers.
