Hey folks, I know its a ut community and everything, (if this thread does not belong you can delete/move it) but I noticed quite a few people still play Starcraft broodwar or have it installed.

I was thinking maybe one night a week those interested could feel free to drop by a defined channel on East Coast Bnet and we could run some games. I know myself and a friend would definatley be in, we play melee and a ton of UMS(use map setting) games. If we have enough we could have some pretty fun 4 on 4's I'd imagine. If not we could always see how we fare against comps or in really intense survival UMS games.

If people are interested feel free to post what nights are best but I was thinking a weeknight, lets just say Tuesdays for now. My play times vary but I should be up for a game anytime between 7-11pm EDT.

For the moment official time and place is:
Tuesdays 7pm EDT
East Coast server
Channel: UT2k4DC
*edit*
Default Game Name: UT2K4DC
Default Game Password: boonali
My Bnet ID is: Doughboy7077, or MuMu_The_Cow on off nights

Shoot me an IM if you have questions, etc @ Doughboy7077

Hope to see ya there!

There are definately some Broodwar enthusiasts on DC, including some admins. I'm interested but my schedule is still a little to hectic right now to have any regular time, if I'm available one of these Tuesdays dont be surprised to see me hop in. You should make a regular game name , channel and password and post it here.

good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.

There are TONS of user made RPGs. Man I never thought I could play ONE game of BW for more than 7 hrs but boy was I wrong.

Well regular channel will be "UT2k4DC" it seems. I'll edit first post and add

Recently I installed starcraft and broodwar to play some online again, it's been like 2 years since last I played it and I saw so many differences that I felt I didn't fit in b-net anymore.

Like 5 players, all of them building huge bases, pilling up buildings one against the other, some kind of weird rule and noone attacking and noone willing to explain it, bunch or aoler's slang without making any sense, the same of many channels and games, just like noone plays SC for strategy or fun anymore.

What happened to the good old "rush, hit hard, defend, attack, repeat"?

Was probably a NR15 or NR20 game. Those are basically newbie games, the NR standing for no rush, so no attacking for 15-20 minutes. And popular maps these days have like 30 "mucho" mineral patches right on top of each other right next to the base, so you can never ever run out of money, and it's near impossible to run low on money. So people tending to built loads of buildings to build the unit of their choice quickly.

playing pickups you get a lot of games like that =/. We usually like to keep it to more normal maps, where anything goes. BGH or equivalent. Every once in awhile limited minerals makes for a very interesting game; probably more for pvp than against comps.

equivalent

Meaning my unholy ice map where the comps seem to go insane and send 50 zealots after you 5 minutes into the game?

Thanks for the explanation, really don't like that kind of game, nothing like good old "Survive... if you can" kind of maps.

BTW, I think I still got the Antioch Chronicles somewhere stored, for those who don't know it it was an extra campaign made by fans, as far as I know it was never finished, but the existing chapters were cool, fun and funny.

There was one called insurrection too, but it was relatively poorly made. Far better than I could make, though
