This is a map I have confused with others before in the server because I didn't know the right name, but here it is.

Chainsisle allows vehicles, its not large so you can get shot on your way and still be dandy, roughly the same size as ONS- Primeral but with large open spaces and very little cover spots.
Lots of sun, lots of sand, lots of water (damage water beyond some limit), a few turrets and lots of guns readily available.

Playing it on onslaught is fun, now with invasion added to the fray...

sometimes i like playing maps without too much cover. It becomes even more challenging.

This map used to be in the mix on the DC server.
It was removed because of the harsh lag it creates with all the crap on the screen at once.
Well.. but that's when we had all the titans and their rocks, but it wasn't pretty with the warlords either.

I think that's the reason it's not in the mix.

Dru and Shant could answer that one better. I know I would vote to leave it out

Ah- I just looked at the screenshot. I thought it sounded familiar. Yes, we used to have this map, but by wave 10 or so there was massive lag on it, so we removed it.

Would be a good idea to put it back
Why the lag for ignorance sake?
The server feels quite smooth nowadays with most maps I have played, maybe 1 or 2 get cranky but not very noticeable my end.

I am disinclined to even consider putting it back. We tried it a number of times because it was a pretty map, but it weighed very heavily on the processor, and the lag was *bad*. My guess would be because it was designed as a small onslaught map, not a vehicle invasion map. However, new people kept picking it as a vehicle invasion map, and things went boom. I seem to recall someone's hair started smoking at one point...

That might explain it, any way to put the map without vehicles? the size of it makes it perfect for a happy fragging-jumping-blowing-smoking shootout... and a good summer tan in the process

In maps that are open or you can see the whole level all players, models, and anything they shoot has to be sent through the server and drawn on yours. Since you see almost everything on the map at once it makes it very laggy. In chains isle the 2 people in the raptors MIGHT make it to the end but everyone else got board watching them kill everything on their own.
