My friend recently showed me some screenshots, and I have to admit. It looks pretty cool. If anyone has played this please let me know your opinions.

If so strong in the force yoda is, construct sentences properly, why can he not?hhmmmm

If attack me you do, hunt you down I shall. If snipe me you attempt to, drop a banshee on your head I will. If continue to piss me off you do, shotgun rounds in your stomach you will feel.

i have to say i've been tempted to check it out, having been an avid Warcraft III player. i love the universe and the design&style is definitely cool. BUT, i already spend too much time w/UT2K4 and the DC server, so, don't think i'll be checking it out any time soon...

My overall opinion on pay-to-play games is:
They suck bad.

Sorry, dislike that kind of games with fervor; great graphics, sound, play, but all is for naught if you have to pay continuously for that "privilege"

that's right. pay to play? you already spent $40 on a game and then have to pay another $10 a month? after one year, that is $170 you spent to play a game that you maybe put 20 hours a month on.

plus, it's not UT2004. I rather play this than that.

Guild wars is trying to do away with the monthly fees. I wonder if other games will follow suit.

wel Guild Wars is AFAIK not completly free
they are going to release expansion packs [patches]
witch you have to buy
who knows how many they are going to release
also you dont have to buy them but people who do get new areas, new items etc etc
inventualy meaning you better do buy it or you get into trouble
not sure if it is true

myself i got WoW and i think it is worth the ?26,99 i pay for 2 months thats becouse i play pre-pay style
the game itself it is true, it is a insane game to me the price is worth it,
especialy since i play more then *20* hours a month
i play about.. 8 hours a day or something atm, sry vacation
usualy its a avarage of 6 a day i think

EDIT: yes, i know i am a crazy gamer and modder/coder ofcourse

Every game has expansions like that.... Of course you're going to have to pay for it man, without monthly fees they gotta have some way to keep the servers running and make a profit, since they ARE a business.

WoW? You mean the World of Walking?

Blizzard and I haven't been on speaking terms since they killed my last two online characters in one of their games, so I'm afraid my view would be a bit slanted.

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

Sounds like a story that needs to be told.

Yes Dru, please elaborate upon your previous post. I would like to hear this story....

Well I'm of the opinion that Blizzard cant run an online world, based upon their history with Diablo II

Round 1, my Necromancer.

I built him up in to the high 70s and then Blizard nixed the skill (Corpse Explosion) that he was based around. That in and of itself was fine, sometimes balancing tweaks have to be made. The problem was that they didn?t offer any sort of ?Here have your points spent on that skill? back, or anything, so essentially that character became useless.

Round 2, my Javazon

I decided to build a character that no one (at least that I had seen) in game had built. I built an amaozn that used javelins. It was a rough class to play, since you always had to pick up more ammo, and you spent all your skillpoints into some unusual skills, and have very specific equipment that was hard to come by. It ended up she was a character that couldn?t kill a single monster to save her life, but if you had an entire cluster of monsters, she could level them, as long as she was with a party who could protect her.

I got her up into the low 80s before Blizzard made a game tweak that killed her. They made it so you couldn?t leech mana off the magic damage done by her weapons.

Once again, it was a ?Thanks for playing, your character is now useless.?

Round 3, Clan Zonation

Shan and I used to run a Diablo II clan channel with a couple of others. Clan Zonation.

With Diablo II in online play, unless you wanted to end up with a bunch of hostiles PKing you, or you just wanted to run with a good group that didn't snipe all the items, you had to get a clan together, and put up a bot in your clan channel to moderate who was allowed in the channel.

I put up a bot that moderated the channel, and everything worked really well? until Blizzard decided that bots wouldn?t be allowed in clan channels anymore, at which point, the whole thing went right in the can. Pkers and item thieves started showing up like mad. People we had told to get lost kept re-appearing? What a load.

So yeah? Blizzard has illustrated to me that their ability to run an online world is full of crap.

In case you ever bumped into us, My account was TheDruidXpawX, but my characters were (necro) Banfiz (Amazon) Griannie, and Shantara's characters were (Amazon) Kaileel and (Amazon) Shantara

I never played Diablo so I have no idea what you just said . I like WoW (yes I bought it) it does have some downfalls (no chat filter) but I haven't had any problems (unless you count some minor lag) and I think it is really fun. I just have to get more experience with the gameplay to see any real flaws...

diablo 2 was ok, until you beat it and then it starts over again and you continue doing the same thing over and over again. and then you get to create weapons with gems or something put into the weapons which gives it magical properties. but then you got hacks that can create just about anything. my best weapon i created was some kind of Maul that did over 200 damage, which was alot in that game, sort of like a flak +30. but anyways, it got boring real quick.

Yeah. It was different when you played on the battlenet servers though since they stored all the character data and items.
