Medic and Engineer inf weapons are too powerful  XML

How should the Medic and Engineer weapons be reduced?
Reduce damage against monsters by 33%, remove berzerk from affecting these weapons. 41% [ 7 ]
Reduce damage against monsters by 50%, give option to purchase resupply lvl 1 24% [ 4 ]
Reduce damage against monsters by 66%, give option to buy resupply lvl 2 6% [ 1 ]
Change healing/engineer weapon to be a special link like gun that does no enemy damage. 12% [ 2 ]
Infinite weapons should be self resupplying instead of truly infinite. 18% [ 3 ]

I'll be sad if I loose my zerk link -- thats the only way i really get any exp -- during titan waves only :\

This is as a sub 48 engi so no offensive sentinels yet.

lol come on, u get some xp from def sents, u get xp from linking other turrets, u have other weapons to use.... plenty of ways to earn xp...

actually i like the idea for engis, no more "balls" with the link gun.. they style might change to a more lets make a base between all of us..


(btw the def sent gives no exp at all, or at least my def sents dont get exp..)

unless that's been changed the def sent gives some xp...but only a tiny bit. I've sent mine up before and not been linking a turret or shooting anything and got 1 xp every few shots

it looks to me like a def sent gives 1 exp per every 10. It's a var that's in the mutator config file so I can't figure it out from the code avalible.

so for about every 15 shots destroyed you get 1 xp.

Just put your def sent in a popular base location and stay alive.

mmm well link is a weapon avaible to everyone.. not big deal..


while server package is another issue.. just make link less fast but a make it hit harder.. by the same ammount so it stay the same

All good suggestions. These are on the short list of ways to deal with this  


From a MM, I really like these ideas as they are. However I think adding+tweaking an idea from earlier in the thread would balance things out.

In addition to the regular medic weapon with resupply, how about a secondary inf medic weapon that deals no damage to monsters, but heals it's full damage to allies that it would normally do. i.e. An "Inf. Medic Shock Rifle" would heal allies for 45 health per shot, but would deal no damage to monsters.

This way if there is only 1 medic on, he has an option to be an effective healer to a large number of people even during battle. But when there are many medics on they can dish out some damage with their resupply version while still being able to heal.

With this weapon you could also modify the adren cost to support using the full healing weapon by making it cost 5 adren. Then make the weapon that deals damage cost 50 or even 100 adren. Effectively making us have to work to get the resupply weapon that deals damage, while still being able to heal until then.

ok here's my 2cents worth kill the beserk with infin weapons! and maybe tweak the primary fire of link and the most times i've seen the link used as a medic is on that one map with the spawn rooms at the shock when evryone links a person or turret.

heck i made a infin+4 link last nite and linked omae's turret to help him make xp..( it was my am char) i got no xp from do'n it but he got helped to kill the critters and win map..(which is the main point of invasion i do believe!) the only xp i got was when i turned my rod on when i had enough adren to does so and keep the critter count down and not swamp him...he did have to rebuild his turret a few times since i was a lowly am with a infin link and everyone else do'n what they wanted

now when i've played my eng or my medic i have on plenty of occasions wish the the shield/healing blast was faster than what it is..( i have died in lack of happening) there have been times that the blast would have made winning the map !

I'm sure something can be done to cut the prob with the server packet issue...and for the other problem seems to stem from well versed ppl use'n the beserk feature and whoop'n monster butt! because of incresed fire rate and such,,,,now this maybe a bit drastic but as far as I know it's just a few certain ppl that use it and they are usually some one that has been on for a LONG time and they can actually do without it..soooo ya can always axe the beserk feature.

Oh I usally a kinda hide and kill type of person..natural instant from want'n to live..( army referees during train'n games loved my tactics it kept me safe and killed the other guys try'n to kill me!)

but there's times when i'm on the attack and i go out and do some serious damage to the beasties! ppl have made a comment a few times also i was recently complemented that i was one of the better medics out there becasue i would do my best to keep ppl healed and not worry about the critters..make'n pets helps build up the adren faster by the way and thats what a medic should be doing is keep'n team mates alive and a eng make a base/safe place to heal shields and health and some of the brutal waves like warlords wave that is if ppl team up the right way
