The commercials and previews totally turned me off from Ghost Rider. Way too many stupid puns...

And Cham I know exactly what you're talking about. The previews for Fantastic 4 led me to believe there would be an interesting storyline and plenty of opportunities to see each character use their powers, etc. It's more like the Fantastic Motor-mouths that prefer to blab on and on instead of stepping up some action. I cringe at the news of a sequel to that movie and other movies like it.

I can't really think of anything I want to see. That new Disney movie, 'Bridge...' something. I can't remember what it is called. It looked like it may be interesting. I'm not so sure, though. It is out in the theatres, however. I may just wait and rent it.

Folks, just got back from Ghost Rider... way cool! You must go see it. For once, Cage has a role I really really like him in. And Fonda, he did a wonderful job, as did Sam Elliot.

I liked it too. A little hokey, just like Starship Troopers, but worth the time. My wife and I have agreed it will be worthwhile addition to our video library, along with Eragorn.

Flee! Flee for your lives!!!

*cough* that is all.

Oh! Saw Pan's Labyrinth finally!! Totally incredible show! Very deserving of anything it wins, and has won. For those who know not of the Pan's, it's a fantasy show based in WW2. They call it an adult fairy tale, as it has some pretty extreme violence and gorey scenes. I will say tho that all the scenes are critical for the development of the story, none of it is gore for the sake of gore. All in all, beautiful visuals, awesome soundtrack, and a very very well told story to boot. However, the R rating is there for a reason, this flick would give smaller kids nightmares for weeks! ...some of us bigger kids are glad we have wives to keep out the monsters...

Anyway, yeah! Go watch it! It is in spanish, but after the first 10 minutes your brain clicks and suddenly the subtitles aren't distracting at all. I totally loved it! The star of the show is a little girl and she totally owns her role, as well as the rest of the cast.

4 wombat thumbs and a tail way up, says I. Go see it! If you don't like it, you can buy me a guinness for your trouble.

cheers.

I saw Pan's Labyrinth this last weekend and I'd have to say I'm not disappointed. Very good movie.

Knowing some spanish, I found it extremely difficult to just use the subtitles and ignore the audio, since I was constantly checking to see if I could understand the spanish well enough.

Some pretty intense stuff, and a good story too. From the commercials I thought it would be more fantasy-filled, but it's really more realistic than I expected... and much better than I thought it would be too. I thought it would be some scifi/fantasy type thing with lots of effects, but it turned out to minimize the effects and instead go for the story. Definitely worth watching.

Guess that means you found somebody to go see it with on Friday then? Sorry I couldn't go. I'm glad you liked it, though. I may have to check that one out.

What day and what time? Maybe when Fire visits? Will I be able to get past the Spanish? I'd much rather watch the movie than read it.

I'm with you you B_B, I rented the translated Crouching Tiger some years ago so i wouldnt have to read it. It takes your eyes off the action too much, for me anyways. And me being a fairly slow reader, I could miss a lot.

Ya, I may have taken 3 years of spanish, but doesn't mean I understand it.

I know what you mean about reading the translations vs. listening to the movie and knowing what they say. Back when I was taking German at Ohio State, I skipped out on, of all things, German to see Das Boot (great flick BTW). Of course, it was rather funny, coming back out of the movie, getting into line, and then having my German prof get in line behind me (she was perhaps 5 or so years older than I was). But having seen it the first time, figured out what they had said, and then knowing this the second time around, I enjoyed that second time much more, even being nervous about sitting beside the prof.

Oh, and a couple of days later, after the prof talked with the class, we all went to see it as a group.

Yeah, that's understandable. It helps to know a little bit of spanish when watching those kind of films. But don't let that keep you from them. Example: Volver, a really good movie. It surprised me how good it was.
