Ok, so the site has hard number data about level, and what weapons do. But what about strategies?!?!

Post your strategies (or just general tips & tricks) here. A long time ago, when I played vanilla invasion, I made a somewhat lengthy strategy guide. As it is, I'm too lazy to update it with Titan and Queen strategies, as well as RPG strategies stuffs.

But anyways, I'll part with some of my strategies that I've learned:

Know what your playing style is. You can scuplt your character build around this, as it's much easier than the reverse.

For example, my playing style is "DON'T DIE" So I've put a lot of points in to damage reduction, health bonus, and am now in the process (still) of getting Resurecction (I'm still working on putting points in to "Spelling Things Correctly"). Every now and then I'll be #1 on the board, but more often than that I end up being the last survivor who either saves the day or ends up getting killed by the last shield nali.

Put your first stat points in to health bonus and then regeneration. This will increase your short life significantly, as long as you don't jump in front of a nali's gun. Follow up by getting Resupply and Loaded Weapons. After that, get whatever tickles your fancy.

O.K. now Everyone post thier strategies starting.......

No offence cpl, but that is a pretty bad strategy.

I'm the opposite of that. I believe in staying alive my carving the health out of others. Max speed, Vamp+4, Max Damage, fast switch weapons, Increased ammo to keep me in the battle longer, and Adrenaline surge to help power the triple damage. I have Adrenaline of 177. If I have a triple damage and activate it during a fight it's almost impossible to kill me while I dish out huge amounts of damage quickly.

You know that old saying the best offense is a good defense. Bah! That guy was a wus. Here is my qoute. "The guy who hits first, gets to hit second"

You get XP (experience) points for just damaging a monster. AFAIK, the kill counts for the standings. So, for new (or low level players) just stick with a higher level player and hit what they are hitting. Even if you don't kill it, you will get some points and your chances of survival increase significantly (counting on the higher level player to actually be able to finish off the monster).

Oh yeah, and like XChosen, I would also rather go out in a blaze of glory so I try to tailor my skills/abilities for damage. If there wasn't a cap on skills I may have gone with high damage reduction but I'm not sure it would have worked for me because I like being in the middle of the fight (I'm pretty lousy at hiding because I'm impatient - glad that DirtyDeeds is so good at it to keep the waves going)

Hello.

My strategy is thus. Stand strong. Face the wind. Look death in the face. Laugh heartily.

My favorite waves are the titan waves - 6, and ? 14 ? My assumption is hitting titans at near point blank range with flak primary fire is great for the XP.
Watch for hall intersections - check your radar. While you're busy with one titan, another will chuck boulders at you from down the hall - yes they will.
I like to hide behind a pillar when going one on one with a titan. If out in the open, I don't jump around too much - the titan likes to hurl a boulder at you just as you do a random hop. They have great timing. Instead, I strafe sideways usually while firing - watch closely for that rock! - then jump out of the way - watch for a surprise 2nd and 3rd throw from that sneaky titan.

With my kind of playing style, I prefer vampire over regen. There's probably a debate over this, but let's just say that vampire keeps me alive.

Detailed strategy? I almost hate to say this but I looked at my skills plan and mapped it out. If I get 500 XP from each map at 12-16 waves, I'd need to play 10 maps to level... So, to buy the next skill that I want, I'd have to play 4hrs a day for the next week -- just kidding! Ha ha...
No, but seriously, map out what skill you want to buy, then check the prerequisites, and add up how many lvls you will need to buy it... It's good to have a plan.

But! Don't forget to have fun no matter what level or skill you currently have. Remember this is the game - now. The game doesn't begin when you get the skill that you want days and days from now.
The game to play is what's on now.

That's it for me.

But really, I know what this thread is for. Do I really dare to post my real strategy?
By the way, the Player Stats show what skills people bought. After watching your favorite player's fighting style in the game, you can go here and look up their stats & skills.

I guess I will post it. My current strategy ... what I was/am planning on buying next is Shields Up! - which costs 20XP for lvl 1 I think. To buy this, I need at least 100 Health bonus. To complete this plan I'd need to level up 7 times to boost my health, then buy shields.

Usually with this "strategy" I like to have Adrenal Surge (max is lvl 2) with a prerequisite of 150 Adrenaline Bonus. This is a little harder. I'd have to level up 10 times to get 1st lvl of Adrenal Surge.

The theory is this - as soon as you hit 100 adrenaline, use the Regen-Combo. When your life is filled up, it starts filling up your armor. With high armor, low life, and quick adrenaline, you can be armored most of the time - you can withstand incredible hits that would buckle normal people. That is the theory.

I don't think I can do that on this server, so I have to come up with an alternate plan... as yet not fully formed.

if you like to play with the titans you may as well forget about health and shields and concentrate on damage and speed, oh and ivisorock vision

Funny you should mention that. Lately even when I have maxed out adrenaline, if it's a titan wave, I don't use it - I just fight. Even if my life is low it doesn't matter - one hit from a boulder and it's over either way.

I just save the adrenaline for the next wave.

My most used weapon is flak. My weapon speed is 10 (it was 8 until recently). I think my favorite weapon though is the Avril - that is just sweet...

Okay, Avril strategy.

VS shielded Queens - shoot above, past the queen... wait for it, wait for it... then point the targeting crosshairs at the queen and watch the avril reverse back and hit the queen from behind where she's not shielded.

Queenspawn - whatever you call those little bugs - I used to think when you kill the little creatures it damages the queen. Not sure if this is true anymore.

If above is true, it's also possible that shooting at Titan rocks hurts the Titan - also not sure of this.
At any rate I've seen Avril shooters fire straight at a Titan and it always hits rocks - and I've seen Titans die seemingly from this - ??

Anyway, to shoot at a Titan, I fire to the side - parallel from flying rocks - at midpoint maybe, direct the avril to home in on the Titan and wham! You get around the flying rocks to hit the Titan.

That's my avril strategy. Also like it for flying creatures, and those rocket shooting walking creatures. The homing is the best part. Fire into the air, run around and hide for a bit, then peek around a boulder or something and home the avril at a target. Fun for all.

i may be new to invasion, but my stratigy sems to work for me.

skills:
vamp lvl1
fast weapon switching lvl 1 (i <3 this skill)

weap attack speed bonus: 55 (max)
weap dam bonus: 50

next i want resupply and loaded weaps. the stratigy to this seeimgly useless pap? hit hard, hit fast, heal alot from the vamp

+ weapon damage bonus = Exp bonus.
exp is based on youyr damage, riiight???? so if you do more damage... you get the idea.

oya. i get close to stuff in hellbenders, shoot a couple balls, the beam then hold down the ball shooting button. the result? a shock combo combo. try it, looks like a flamethrower works awsome for close range.

LOL, I too do not want to reveal 'real' strategies, that's why I reveal only 'shadow' strategies... Heh...

I also like speed switcher - I saw on other servers, they disable this skill - I don't know what they're thinkin', it's cool stuff.

I can't have it though because of the prerequisite fire rate increase. If I increase my fire-rate, I run out of ammo.

Increased fire rate is a good strategy - specially in teamwork - because you always have to ask other players for a clone of their INF weapons. Imagine massive fire rate with INFinite ammo weapons! Ah, the imagination shudders... It would be Unreal!

If someone's hiding their strategy & skill, you can click on their names to check out their stats
I have +14 weapon speed now! But I'll never get to 50 to buy speed switcher.

My strategy:

  1. run up to big scary monsters.

  2. shoot big scary monsters.

  3. hope they fall over dead.

  4. if they don't fall over dead, keep shooting them.

  5. whatever you do, don't run away.

  6. panic when titan spawns just above you and crushes you after you have successfully killed the 15 other titans in the room.

  7. say "donut" a lot.
  8. say it more when Iggy is on

  9. say LOL a lot

Sidenote: I have found this strategy is significantly easier with my level 120 character than my level 13 character.

Side-sidenote: I do it anyway. Much more fun than hiding. More points, too, but mostly just more fun.

Oh, I like that Shantara... What's your lvl 13 char name?

My other titan fighting technique, other than standing out in the open and doing the spiral flower of death maneuver... (hmn, death-blossom?)

...is to stand right next to a pillar. This will almost reduce me as a target from 360 degrees to 180 degrees... Does that make sense? I mean standing shoulder to pillar (or tree, or stick, etc).
Of course this involves moving from pillar to pillar to avoid boulders from different directions. But that's just fun.

medium-long distance I like the mini alt-fire. At least I get points.
