With the increase in DM activity on the server, there has been quite a few times that the regular invasion mode is stuck on Masterful difficulty instead of Experienced - I figure this is due to the bot difficulty being transferred over, just like how Skilled gets transferred from VINV - and I've seen quite a few people express discontent over it. So, for those who like to play on Experienced, here's a tip: vote for the AS maps Overlord, Abyss Lite, or Cruciatus (Note: see updates.) All of these crash before the match even starts, and causes the server to reset back to regular invasion at Experienced difficulty. This is a good alternative to waiting until the server crashes on its own (as it does rather often) as no one will lose any XP.

And for those who like Masterful/Skilled/Adept, now you know what maps not to vote for.

Thank you for your time.

Update (05/03/2011): I've seen two instances where Cruciatus has been played. One time where it bugged out and wasn't completable, and another (just this morning) where it was completed. So if you want to reset the difficulty, count on Overlord or Abyss Lite. Alternatively, you can play any AS map and then immediately vote for INV and the result will be the same - this just requires a majority vote to return.

Update (05/26/2011): We just played Overlord this morning, but Abyss Lite crashed automatically as expected. So that is now our only definite crash map. The alternative, again, is to just start an AS map then immediately vote for INV to get it reset to Experienced. Also, I've read that Waisten and TheOnion (NOT the Fix versions) consistently crash and reset after end-game voting finishes, so if you want to give a shot at a higher difficulty then revert back to experienced, those are options, too.

Nice post loc, Im starting to get crazy about someone who is new and is always voting for TDM when high level players are on for the only purpose to level up easly, I mean do it once its ok, but all the entire time just for personal advantage Its kinda cheap and this affects other players that are low lvl or have issues staying alive, Im talking about when the server difficult raises in invasion because of TDM I hope someone do something about it.

Glad to help. As for the new people who are leveling up primarily in DM, they're shooting themselves in the foot. XP gives them access to better skills and abilities, but it doesn't give them the knowledge or actual experience to use them at top efficiency. For instance, I saw you-know-who the other day at level 54 doing the exact same thing he did at level 20-something: building blocks up in the corner of another Eng's base and hiding behind them. No light sent out, no turret, no bender. Talk about a waste of potential. I doubt he'll be around much longer once he starts wondering why he isn't scoring as high as all the other mid-level Eng's with those capabilities.

Yeah Im agree, just like another MORPG leveling up faster in the easy way will make you an easy target for monsters, You can have a high level but the lack of knowledge of your class will make you weak, very weak.

I mean in the case if the game is new for the player who is leveling up fastly in the cheap way, will have problems leveling up in the normal mode. lack of using skills

I just wish someone would fix those maps so I can play them. Been wanting to play Overlord forever. Cruciatus used to work, have plaid that several times...what happened?

My current skin After several other skins, I have reverted back to Bender.

I've been waiting for a while to play Overlord, too, and this morning we actually managed to play through the whole thing without a crash. I'm pretty sure one of the newer players thought I was lying and just wanted to trick him into voting for it when I told him it would reset the difficulty.

See updates for more info.

I don't care what the level of the map is..................I just wanna play. However, I do NOT like AS gameplay.

As to campers, if I see them, I boot them. If they persist in camping, I ban them. I have a great dislike for those "players" that ride on the coattails of other players and not risk themselves. Ditto for those that are constantly "AFK".

I'm in the same boat you are, Demon (except for the AS part - I loves me some MAS.) I actually like the challenge of Skilled difficulty, and the utter brutal insanity of Masterful. I do, however, know a number of people (primarily low- and mid-levels) who don't find heightened difficulties at all enjoyable, as they are forced to stay in bases for most of the waves in order to stay alive and end up missing out on the fun. So, out of respect for them, I'm providing this little guide to give them control over the difficulty - I won't vote to change, but if they want to, the option exists. If you don't care what difficulty you're playing, then vote for your preferred map like always. I had you, specifically, in mind when I added the bit saying "If you like harder difficulties, now you know what not to vote for."

To be honest with ya, I feel cheated if I don't die at once a map, except for my engineer due to the problems with dying.

I do understand what you are saying about "masterful" and low level players but remember, I do not play my two high level characters very much any more, thus my other two characters are below level 50..............
