On the server today there was a bit of confusion as to how some of the modifiers work.

Everyone knows if you get a +5 minigun, it does +50% damage. Most people also know if you get a Vorpal Shieldgun +9 you will do 90% more damage, as well as 4% chance of instagib.

However, when it comes to guns of poison, energy, force, protection, sturdy, penetrating/piercing guns.

This is the confusion. Posion Link Gun +4. Does the +4 mean extra damage?

I say not really. I've looked through the code, and I've looked through Mysterial's documentation of ut2004RPG, and there's is abolsutly nothing about doing the extra 10% damage per plus. I am sure that the + on a posion just modifies the strength of the poison, and the duration of the posion.

But other people on the server were saying that the +4 would mean the extra damage in the same way of a regular +4 link. There is also this thinking for other weapons, of protection etc.

Can the almighty Dru confirm or deny whats going on here, because I know I'm right. Just other people don't. They need to hear it from the man.

I think a lot of this confusion stems from how Dru likes to add +10% damage per plus on his weapons (regardless of the prefix or suffix of a magical weapon) and on the weapons he modifies (and how mysterial doesn't for his). But that's just me typing out loud.

Probably safe to assume that if its a druid gun then yes, if its a mysterial gun then no. Poison and Protection are Mysterial guns. Piercing could be either but you can tell by the shader effect.

Indeed, but can it be expected of everyone to have it emmorized which gun is a Mysterial gun and which is a Druid Gun? I can tell easy as for one, I'm a huge freakng nerd, and two, I played ut2004 rpg quite a bit before I played on this server (and thus DruidsRPGXXX). But to expect everyone else to be able to sort it out on their own (asking people on the server, looking it up on the sire) is holding them up to an unfair standard.

Cloud: in reference to our conversation last night, I wasn't being obstinate (not last night anyway I was just going by what I read in: http://www.disastrousconsequences.com/dc/druidsrpgweapons.jsp which I do see that it only applies to Druid's weapons. It just doesn't say that the others (such as poison) weapons don't behave similarly. It was just easy to extrapolate that information to the rest of the weapons, and as you heard, I wasn't the only one.

So, what does a poison+4 really do? Is it poison +40% damage? Or 40% longer poison DOT?

Heh, I acually don't know the specific specifics of posion, even after reading the source code. Just that it causes damage over time.

My own observations suggest that the higher the + the longer the poison laststs for, and the code suggests that the amount of damage done over time is roughly based on a percentage of damage that you did with the weapon that poisened the monster/person.
