That was another remake I was wondering about. I really enjoy the original. Will be another red-box rental if I remember. Speaking of which, we caught up on a few movies over the weekend.
Twilight: New Moon
We barely remembered what was in the first one it was so long ago that we watched it, and along of a season of Vampire Diaries after, we couldn't get the 2 straight in our heads. Anyways, it was pretty good. My wife enjoyed it. I guess it was on par with the first. All in all, it's a teen love story. But it was pretty good. 7.5 / 10
Harry Potter: Half Blood Prince
Ok, the idea of the books is to start young and have the characters age along with the readers. The further you get in the story, the more adult and dark it becomes...and it's been keeping true to that...even up to the point of ...here it comes again....teen love. It's frustrating to watch Ron not pull his head out and acknowledge the feelings he shares with Hermione. But besides that....I liked it....it ended right where I thought it would. Now...below are plot speculations. Dont read on if you havnt seen it yet.
Ok, for those who have seen it (or have read the next book and may already know...we have speculated on the happenings in the last part of the movie and what will happen in the next. Ok, we believe that the whole Prof. Snape thing was setup from the beginning between him and Dumbledore....to arrange this assassination to make the other side think he is out of the picture. He looked very reluctant to do the "promise" in the beginning...or nervous about it. If he was truly on the dark side (so to speak) he had a chance to do Harry there under the floor as he watched. Instead he made his way up. And when Drako couldn't do what was ordered him to do, Snape did it. And Dombledore made it all too easy for it all to happen. We believe that he split his soul (as Tom did in the memory) into something...(wife thinks it's the Phoenix, even though it's a living creature and not an object...the phoenix will age and die and get reborn again, but instead of the phoenix rising, Dumbledore will rise from the ashes.) Either that or his wand or something in his office. Now, we are not sure, but who switched the locket from the cave? Did Dumbledore do it knowing he was going to die and left the note in it. ( it did say "if your reading this, then I'm already dead") So we think he did it, and the genuine object is hidden away, maybe with the diary and ring he collected.
At any rate, we know he comes back as Michael Gambon is cast in the next 2 movies: The Deathly Hollows Part 1 and 2. IMDB is a great place to see what is in the works for any actor.
We enjoyed it as much as the others...even with the whole 'teen love' thing brewing...but, it matches what really happens in life so, we roll with it. The one thing that bothers me is when someone casts a spell at another, they just block it withe a wave of the hand, with no counter spell or nothing, just a physical block. If it's that easy to block, then why not just throw stones at each other. Cant wait for the next one. There is 8 books in the series ( I believe) so we should be looking for 2 more movies to come. 8.5 / 10

Release of Part 1 is Nov this year. Part 2 will probably be Nov of 2011 as that is the slated release date according to IMDB. They have a writeup here under the Plot section.

It looks to be. But the wife cant go the theaters, so we are forced to rent or wait for them to be chopped to pieces and put on TV. When we really want to see something, we rent from Red Box...cant beat it for $1 and it's just up the street.
Ya, I stumbled accross the proposed release date of Part 2, Dont know why so close to Part 1...usually big name titles like this wait for the holiday season to release... Oh well, means we get to see the end all that much sooner. They say they will be tear jerkers so be ready.

Recently watched The Hurt Locker.
I though it was a decent movie, but I am puzzled by the Oscar wins. That is not to say that I didn't like it or think it was a good movie, just not Oscar caliber.
Guess it was a slow year.

So I just saw Kick-"butt" and thought it was pretty good. First it's pretty violent and over the top....kind of like a light Kill Bill. So this movies definitely not a typical superhero movie, but one that shows the dangers of the job more realistically. The movie's quite odd, but story and characters are great! Nicholas Cage is fantastic and his character with Hit Girl make the movie. Pretty funny at times, but not a straight out comedy. Definitely recommend it, just be ready for some violent superhero action heh!

We took a bunch of kids to see How to train your dragon in 3d.
The 3d wasn't anything like avatar, but with all of the hair on the characters, I felt like I was watching a bunch of muppets. The final scenes made it worth it though.
Overall, I thought it was a pretty cool movie. We will likely get the DVD when it comes out.

Alice and the Hatter: Quotes: Alice in Wonderland
Alice: What a funny watch! It tells the day of the month, and it doesn't tell what o'clock it is!
The Hatter: Why should it? Does your watch tell you what year it is?
Alice: Of course not, but that's because it stays the same year for such a long time together.
The Hatter: …which is just the case with mine.

If you haven't seen Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, walk... no... RUN TO YOUR NEAREST THEATER AND SEE IT. No words can describe how awesome this movie is.

Theater prices are nuts.... And then you try and buy nuts and it costs you more than what it did to get in. $20 for you and your SO for a movie? NOT. Red Box and some munchies... $3.50
