I think it would be really neat if engineers could deploy Helix craft. (Of course it would need to be a rather high level )
The helix imo isn't overpowered, its armed with 1 duel minigun and 2 minigun turrets, allowing the engineer to setup a mobile base for other players.
Additionally it has onboard item spawns: Link gun, Link ammo, AVRiL Ammo, regshield pickup, and a health pickup allowing it to be a mobile resupply.
It flys much like the raptor and has deployable landing gear and a rear bay door.
Im not sure what you guys think of having a flying vehicle on this server, if it would make it imbalanced or not, but I always found the helix to be fun to play around in on invasion servers that had it.
-please?-

you can find it at:
http://ut2004.levels4you.com/downloads.l4y?cat=182
to summon it into an offline game to try it out type:
summon HelixESV2.HelixESVnew
(caps might not even matter)
One of the downsides is even though it looks like it can transport a scorpion, it doesnt do so well with taht sort of thing as the the vehicle can still fall through the moving door. as well as making it tip over and make everyoen fall out.

I liked the craft when I first found it. although this isn't the final version of the vehicle, there was another version on another download server that I don't remember the name of. That one was fun to use in Vehicle invasion in single player, plus it's good for player moving for the medics to get into the hot zones.
plus that vehicle mutator it came with allowed you to switch it with the Raptor with that version.

Yeah, I tried that once. The result was a couple of warlords and Skaarj getting crushed in midair. Wish I still had that screenshot.

So what are the chances of them putting this in the DC invasion?
I mean.. its not overpowered really. And its at least cooler than the standard vehicles in this game that im bored as hell of.
It would especially act as a driving force to keep going if i knew that was the end result rather than a pathetic paladin tank... booorrriinnggg... zzzz
So how about it devs?

The problem with vehicle spawns as I see it, is that they end up being spawned all over small, indoor maps too, making it hard to get around, or overcrowding a good shooting spot.
Nothing worse that legging it round a corner, health flashing, trying to dodge your way out of a tight spot, and that small blue blip on the radar turns out to be a 6 wheeled monster filling the whole room, jamming you in the doorway with it's shield deployed, bouncing your own shots back at yourself.
(an example from the Lego map flag room, but it happens all over)
How about let the engis have more powerful vehicles, but limit spawn ability to maps that the Ion Cannon works on?

Well there is that "Not enough room to spawn the vehicle" deal.
And on some maps the vehicle just isnt practical to use.
Getting trapped by a 6 wheeled solid wall is a problem with the engi not the vehicles.
Its an engies responsibity to make sure he doesnt cause harm to the team by poor placement of objects.
TBH blocks can be just as bad if you turn a corner and find yourself face to face with one.
The helix is way more helpful to the team than the otehr vehicles as many people can operate it and the build in pickups it provides

I believe the Engineer class in the DruidsRPG can be configured to spawn any type of vehicle, so no coding changes should be required to support the Helix ESV.
So it is down to individual server admins to decide what vehicles etc to include, in order to maintain the balance they require. Some sites are happy including things like goliaths and link turrets, where as for others like DC such vehicles upset the balance.
Since DC doesn't even have the Raptor, it is unlikely to include a more powerful flying vehicle - but that is down to Druid and Shantara.
In particular, its looks from the description that a flag carrier could get inside the vehicle with the flag. If so, this would be particularly unbalancing for CTF games (not that DC plays many).

The helix is not that tough to kill, and its a big easy to hit target.
Besides, if you think the helix would be a problem, what about the AWs aim hack lightning rod and what other cheese im sure they can wtfpwn you with.
in any sort of PvP engineers seem to be at a disadvantage, wich is why I hate DMs, the classes are meant to work together as a team not go against the others because that doesn't end up too well... I could be wrong though
