Next up Galtanor's Invasion

Looks like the URLs for this version of Invasion are:

http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=590438

And also the hompage: http://invasion.sudreal.org/

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

So, has anyone used this invasion mod? Any thoughts on it?

sorry, I re-read and realize now that you probably were not looking for a player review.

Just the same, if you want one let me know. I played a server using this mod for a couple hours.

I have played it, looked at the code, connected it with BattleRPG, exchanged all kinds of information with the author etc.

What is great about Galtanor is the monsters, which is of course essential for Invasion. Especially his latest version, 007, has some very nice monsters.

What I like less about Galtanor is the bugs, it has too many of them for now. Galtanor is working very hard on solving them though, so I think in time this will be a non issue.

My own invasion server is running Galtanor and AFAIK it is the more popular of the two.

I'm not really sure where to mention this, but my friend and I had an odd bug the other day while playing Galtanor's Invasion. My framerate runs at about 40 fps and runs smooth until I go into the 'L' menu to purchase items, after I exit that screen the game chugs and makes it look like severe lag. My fps dropped to about 10 - 20 for two games before I exited and re-entered. I found that as long as I don't go into the 'L' screen my framerate stays smooth. The same bug happened with my friend and through trial and error we think the menu is causing some issues. We tested it out on two different servers that ran Galtanor's and it had the same conclusion. Has anyone else had this issue, it just seemed really odd. Other than this though It was extremely fun and I thought it was really well done.

I've tried both "#1 UT3 Invasion BattleRPG" and Slaughter's Place BattleRPG Invasion. I am also having lag/freeze-frame issues. It is most prevalent when the monsters spawn, but also occurs during fire fights. Anyone else having lag issues.

I get about a 3 second ding when the first monster is appearing. I try to make sure that I am in a place where a Krull will not spawn and shield gun me to death before it ends. Other wise no prob.

This is a known problem with Galtanor's invasion. His new 008 version should have less delays. I hope to release a new version of BattleRPG (V8) next weekend which will support Galtanor's 008 version. Galtanor explained that the delays are probably caused by loading the monsters and spawning them, so 008 now preloads them instead.

Ahhhh...no wonder I was having trouble getting BattleRPG and his 008 to work together...

Could have saved me alot of time.

I always include the latest version of Galtanor's Invasion that BattleRPG supports in the BattleRPG zip. With permission from Galtanor of course. Both BattleRPG and Invasion are too complicated to make them universally connectable (also the UT3 engine does not have enough hooks for that). E.g. the Invasion scoreboard has to show the BattleRPG level and each version of Invasion uses a different module name.

I've been playing on Slaughter's for the past few days. The only issue I have is the "freezing" problem that lasts a few seconds. It always happens when the monster first spawn, but occasionally happens when I am being fired upon. It may be a problem on my end, I just wanted to see if any else is experiencing the same issue.

Overall, the newest version has really improved my gaming experience. The addition of "magic weapon" skins has helped tremendously. The only thing I really miss is the lack of monster diveristy that ut2k4 RPG-Invasion uses. So far----thumbs up!

I'm still getting the freezing issue when they spawn as well and sometimes in between. I also noticed friendly fire occurred at different times, my friend could hurt me with his sniper rifle/flack, but nothing else and a few other people said they were getting hurt by certain things. The monsters look really neat though, especially the skulls and the laser dark walkers.
