Core Network Maintenance
------------------------

Between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on the morning of Sunday,
July 1, XMission network engineers will be performing maintenance on our
Salt Lake City core network. Minimal disruption is expected, but there
may be periods of instability or brief outages during this window.

Details
-------
We will be placing our new Core/Distribution routers into service during
this time. This pair of Cisco 6509s with Supervisor 720-3BXLs will allow
us to scale the capacity of our network as we grow. We will also be
improving upon some of the core routing functions for quicker and more
reliable recovery in case of link or equipment failure.

Since the core network is designed with full redundancy, all traffic
will be diverted to backup systems while work is done on the primary
side of the network. As the primary work is complete, traffic will move
back again while the secondary systems are reconfigured, and finally
full redundancy restored at completion. It is mainly during these
changes in traffic flow that customers may experience instability or
temporary routing problems. It may also be necessary to make some
adjustments which could cause a few additional short events within the
maintenance window.

Conclusion
----------
These upgrades are part of our ongoing commitment to always improve our
service. Our robust network is of particular interest to enterprise and other
business customers with advanced and demanding connectivity needs.

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.
