got my stats reset, new strat.

maxed weap attack speed
health bonus 60
increaseing health bonus ATM

abilities: regen lvl2

saving for loaded/resupply

i do pretty good, as long as im not all alone. basics of this is " shoot the monsters, grab the "treasure", shoot your buddy (with a healing weapon of course )

oya titans, queens and warlords = hide and flak around things

i also vote AS maps alot too, as part of my stratigy. you have more than one life that way and are able to deal more damage... therfore, more exp. plus as levels (convoy for example) all the monsters start in areas with narrow doorways, allowing grand EXP spammage.

plus theres the feeling of trying to accomplish something other than surviving and that whole "not-waiting-15-min-for-the-next-wave-to-start-after-being-shield-nali'd-at-the-start-of-the-match" thing

i tend to avoid ONS maps, and vehicle maps alltogeather. they just take TOO LONG. it feels like your getting more exp, but the waves take longer... so it evens out, or is actuailly slow enough that your earning LESS xp per min than in a standard INV.

(breathe)

ok i think im done ranting now heheheh

My strategy is put on a tank top and flex in the mirror alot telling myself, "I am important, and by gosh people like me!"

Ok, I really don't, and my strategy isn't really important 'cause I am not in the same league as those like: Square, Shan, Dirty, Cloud, CplMac, Nailer, etc. I just try to live long enough to do the dance at the end of the game

My strategy is the exact opposite of havoc. Kill all the easy monsters, and eat rocks on 6 and 14. Also, I use head phones and listen for the monsters more than the map, which is why I hate chat spam.

Betty Crocker Easy-Bake Godmode...
1: Grab a weapon of Energy. Ideally a Flak +3 or better.
2: Grab an Invulnerability orb.
3: Activate the orb.
4: Wade through monsters with complete immunity.

Works well on small maps when crowds of warlords are chasing you. A good Resupply skill also helps. Invulnerability drains your adrenaline very quickly, but a fast weapon (flak, mini, link) will charge up your adrenaline faster.

It is rather interesting to see how long this thread has survived.

As noted, there are a number of different strategies involved in UT, and much of it depends on the game type (INV vs. DM vs. LMS vs. ...), with the way you play the game in question and the way you spend your RPG points being pretty interrelated. But beyond the first few levels worth of RPG points, the way you play the game determines the way you should spend those points. I am going to focus mainly on playing the normal INV on DC for this. When it comes to other game types (ONS, CTF, LMS), I think this would probably be a good thread for some BEL member to start over on our site in the private clan forum (Why there?? Because I said so!! It is good to be the General!!! Actually, think clan matches!!)

As has been said, starting off, everyone should throw points into health. Weapon speed and damage do not help you when you are fighting two or three groups of monsters, or they fire at your back from a distance, etc. I would actually recommend throwing points to health until you can buy a level of regen, and then do it again. So at this point, you should have 60 health and level 2 regen. At this point, given how crowded it is and how hard it is to get ammo, throw points at maxammo until you can get level 1 resupply, and then buy it. And somewhere in this time, you should also give some thoughts to adding about 10 points to your max adrenaline, especially early on. This will give you that added little bit of booster when you really need it.

At this point, you need to start thinking about how you play. If you tend to play with weapons which use ammo quickly, going for another level of resupply may be a good idea, particularly if you tend to snipe or stand up topside in maps and use the mini. But at this point, damage bonus, damage reduction and weapon speed are good possibilities, as is adding more to health, max ammo and then upping your regen and resupply levels. And if you get your damage bonus up high enough, purchasing vampirism is also something to consider, as while you are hurting the bugs, you can be healing yourself. But the key at this point is to watch how you play, see where you start running into trouble, then address the need. For me, I put quite a few points towards health, regen, max ammo and resupply, with a smaller percentage towards weapon speed, damage bonus and damage reduction. I can now fire most weapons, especially my main weapons, for an extended period of time without running out of ammo. And my health is such that after building my health levels up through vampirism to 240 pts, when combined with the minimal damage reduction which I have, I can generally take one titan rock in the open and survive. I don't feel too good afterwards, but I am not dead.

I hope folks have noticed that I have said nothing about things like the adrenal skills, awareness, countershove, monster tongue, etc., as well as loaded weapons. Let's be honest...most of these skills are probably worthless. If you are like me, most of the time, you are running around avoiding the adrenaline because you are maxed out there. Monster tongue...come on! If I wanted a bug I would use the summoning charms, but I don't because I generally don't like a dumb pet cluttering my radar or worse, getting in my way and causing me to take splash damage. But, this is just me, and YMMV when it comes to these. As for loaded weapons, it is expensive enough that you should hold off and spend your points elsewhere for awhile. But do not waste the points on denial!!! Denial is a skill which makes no sense in INV at level 1, and you could get level 2 loaded weapons for less than level 2 denial. The only thing you won't get for level 2 LW is the same weapon. But all the weapons with the random magical is better than just one weapon in my book any day.

Oh, a couple more things to think about. You may have noticed, my main weapons are flak and the rocket launcher, which are weapons which do splash damage. Even better, with the flak, you can rain damage down upon the bugs below, or around the corner. Vampirism has another use in these situations, where I can tell I am hitting a bug when my health starts heading towards the 240. Combine this with the fact that I have my weapons hidden so they don't block my vision, and it gets to be quite effective at times.

So take the time, learn how you play the game, read the descriptions, and then spend your points. And do not hesitate to plan out the next 4, 5 or more levels you make.

BTW...In case you are wondering, yes, I do have LW4, and am going after LW5, but after that, I will be throwing more points towards damage bonus and reduction, and then perhaps see about weapon speed (which will mean more towards resupply).

Here is a good tip. If you get a charm such as a teleporter, boot of flight, or something that you are not going to use, and if you want a different charm, just toss that charm (so it disappears) then another charm will generate that you might get and be the charm that you want. <<<<Thats a long sentence, lol.

I have read the various posts with regard to the different methods employed by the general population of the server. I did manage though, through careful thought an deliberation, to come up with a relatively unique strategy that I call my own. It is as follows;

Ugg, me kill bugs.
