That's a good one. So is Bronte's Jane Eyre.

All Dragonlance books, especially by Weis & Hickman

Stephen: Stephen is my name. I'm the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.
Hamish: "Your island"? You mean Ireland?
Stephen: Yeah. It's mine.
Hamish: You're a madman.
Stephen: I've come to the right place then!

I recieved the first book in the Otherland series a year or two ago as a gift, and I must say it is indeed wonderful. I'm so lazy it hurts, as I have yet to get around to finding/buying the rest of the series. How are you SUPPOSED to pronounce !Xabbu's name? I just pretend the "!" isn't there, and go the way of the xylophone in terms of pronounciation.

While I'm making this post, I might as well make amends for a book that I forgot to put in my list:

Enders Game

I know, I know, it's a already popular book that's been around for a while, but whatever. If you like Sci-fi and you haven't read Enders Game, I impore you to do so, or else your life is forfiet.

I'm currently reading the last of the LOTR's books, and i like some of Edgar Allen Poe's works (especially The Cask of Amontillado )

As far as I understand, the "!" is a tounge-click sound, like the guys in "Gods Must Be Crazy" make while talking.

Awesome series though, and if you've only read the first book, you're in for a real treat finishing out the series! A bit of a psycho-treat, but that makes it all the more sweet, no?

cheers.

I can't believe I forgot about Ender's Game.

I should have mentioned this as well. This is an amazing book. And the buzz around here is that it is slated to be made into a movie.

Of Course I also forgot about the Deathgate Cycle, one of my absolute favorite series. It had the coolest assassin ever, Hugh the Hand!

The Hand was cool, but my favorite still has to be Haplo, he's just cool and collected no matter what. (most of the time)

Hey CPL, just thought I'd let you know I'm actually reading Red Branch. I'm about 130 pages in and it's a lot different than I thought it would be. The last fantasy book I read was King's Dragon and I had a hard time getting through it, so I was a little nervous about reading another fantasy, but this one is flying by! I also wanted to get this thread going again.

Pyro, you should read White Oleander by Janet Fitch. You might like it better than Interview with the Vampire. It's not as descriptive. Wombat might even like it too....oh forget it, everybody should read it! It's as good as To Kill A Mockinbird !!

I also really liked the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, the Harry Potter series, Stephen King stuff is good, John Steinbeck stuff is good too, Frankenstein and Dracula (Frankenstein was better). Jane Eyre, the Bloodhound murder mysteries by Virginia Lanier. I always enjoy reading Roald Dahl's books too. Danny the Champion of the World is my favorite.

And I'm done.

I think maybe some of us reader types should band together and write a DC/UT based novel. I think it would be cool and silly.

Totally, it could be about the little "growling, biting" weirdos who live in a "shrubbery" in Dru and Shan's front yard with the "white picket fence" who cart around "vampiric freezing null entropy piercing lucky quickfoot +10 sniper lightning assualt link rocket flak mini-shock bio redeemer painter rifle launchers and snowglobes!"

I'd read that....
