Very nice! You can really see the water droplets on that first one!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO what a ride!"

We have a few different looking one's around here, don't know what the difference is really, but there are the brown ones you mentioned, the black and yellow like the pic and a rusty red one too. (that one has a really big leg span, about 3 or so inches.)
All I know is no matter which color it is, if ya do one in by accident it still does rain.

Here is another one that tried my patience, I think it's of the snapdragon family, and it took me about half an hour of waiting for it to open. With the weather as hot as it is, and the sun so bright, they have been only opening for about an hour in the early morning.

Yep, most of these are within about 200 yds of my house, the rest are up where we go camping. I'm sure many of these were planted perannials that were let go to seed and thrived on their own, and adapted over the years and are a little different then their store bought ansestors.

Here is a pretty shot I took on a really hot, humid morning a couple of weeks ago. The mountains you see in the back round are the green mountains of vermont.

We are heading north tomarrow just to get away for the day, and the camera is going to be getting clicked away most of the day I hope, if I get any good shots I'll post em.

Photographers in general tend to be very dedicated when it comes to getting that shot they want - and it's not limited to the ones above the water:

"Paul Humann lay motionless on white sand 15 feet below the surface. For over an hour he patiently squinted into the tiny viewfinder of his reflex camera. All this time the lens remained focused on the exposed head of a small fish hiding in a hole just inches away. Without warning, the male Sailfin Blenny shot out of its burrow and rapidly fluttered its dramatic dorsal fin in an attempt to attract a nearby female. In the same instant, the shutter was triggered. This was only the third exposure of the afternoon and just the 14th taken since the colony of Sailfins was discovered on the outer fringe of a patch reef the week before. The diminutive Sailfin is not a cooperative subject. Its spirited courtship display occurs rarely and without warning, but Paul was determined to capture the image he wanted.

Two weeks later, on his seventh visit to the colony and after ten hours of patiently waiting in the sand, everything came together. The fish popped out from the hole, stayed within the one-inch field of focus, spread its fin and became one more species in what has become the most extensive collection of reef fish ever photographed." From About the Author, Reef Fish Identification: Florida, Caribbean, Bahamas

If you're curious as to what one might look like, I hesitate to put the image up for copyright issues, but I think it's okay to provide a link to the photo album:

Beautiful Snapdragon by the way, and I've never gotten close enough to any spider to see such detail! And the little bits of pollen on the bee (or whatever it is).

Good shots!

One of these days I'll save up the money to get a nice digital SLR camera and housing and take some macro stuff. Video is nice but I must say the detail you can get in a still shot beats all.

And it's usually easier to process!

Hope it goes well my friend! I finally got my computer up and running again (had to do a total wipe and re-install, ick) but the good news is I got one roll of film back from last week, I'll go through them and see if any are good enough to post.

Made a slide show of my more recent pics, and my image shack page.

Edit: I'm not too impressed with image shack scaleing down the pics, so if you want to download one of them and want the full sized image pm me and I'll give ya a link.
