i agree that these changes are quite welcome and i also agree with em about the two paths needing time to balance out.

i was on earlier today and picked up a +9rageBio, i really enjoyed the extra amount of strategy it brought w/ compromising health and XP. i like the change with making healing guns pass-able, and the cap to teh rage damage, as these both should help low lvl players. i found that the 18-22 range to be the toughest and i think that these changes should help those people to not lose patience and leave.

i can't thank all u who own/operate this server enough, i honestly consider it the best server currently for any game; thx guys!

And fodder, if you are jealous...why don't you come over to the "dark side". I have already shown you that the base cost is less (indeed, I got several extras from the vamp and regen I used to have when I switched), but I think you will soon learn that the "dark" is really just the color of the fabric the next-of-kin keep wearing as we die.

Hope I didn't offend you, I didn't mean to. I've always known that a player has to be pretty good to be a loaded artifact player, that's why I'll stay on the "light" side. I'm just not up to changing the way I play. I'm still honeing my loaded weapon style.

No offence taken, and I hope you were not offended either. That is partially why I did the "Bill Nye". The other reason being the fact that I was going to be giving a whole bunch of numbers. From personal experience, I still think that the LW folks have an edge over LA folks, even before the changes to the vamp. I was hoping to show that the points cost reflects this, as does the fact that we are still lacking. If you accept my previous figures, with the extra 115pts the person with LW has compared to a LA person with the extra health, resupply, and denial, they can buy lvl 5 vampirism and have another 25pts to spend somewhere else. So effectively, every weapon for that LW person is essentially a Vamp +5 (as compared to the one or two a LA person might have).

BTW...I did some figuring and compared the results to what I saw in a game today where I had a Vamp +7 RL. At base speed, the RL does 90 damage per rocket, and fires at a rate of 3.3 shots/sec on primary fire, or 2.7/sec on secondary, for an average of 3 shots/sec. This means that if you connect with all three rounds, you will do 270pts/sec of damage. If I have a +7 weapon which does 2.5%/plus, that means that I should get back 17.5%, or about 47 pts back in health, and go from 0 to 350 health in roughly 7.5 secs. Firing against a big ole titan's backside (no rocks hitting my shots or me), I was nowhere near this, even considering I have 50 damage bonus and 29 weapon speed to still figure in. (If folks are interested, I have tables with the damage and fire rates of all the 2K4 weapons).

BTW Dru, the rpgskills FAQ says vamp is 5% per level, and the weapons says 5%. Either the FAQs need to be updated, or we need a double check of the code to compare, or both next time you are in the code.

Y tu tambien. Of course, I could also say "Fröhliche Weihnachten und ein glückliches Neues Jahr!" or "Nadolig LLawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda", or even "Danistayohihv & Aliheli'sdi Itse Udetiyvsadisv". Unfortunately, this still leaves one major part of my heritage (Chiricahua) uncovered. But perhaps it is fitting too...

I don't need to go to Vegas then either, I haven't seen the greener grass on my side of the fence in the form of a Vorpal anything for a couple of weeks now. But, I do admit that in the past, I have gotten two or three a night. But oh how rare those nights are lately.

We know that yall cough 'em up. And it is appreciated...........especially lately with the tougher bugs or decreases in weapons damage. Either way, most of us learned to share at a young age and as the game difficulty increases, so will the team effort. Of course there will always be the 'Lone Woof', but atsok too.

I know I don't post much on here but I figured I would toss in my 2 cents since some pretty big changes and gameplay views are being discussed. (Note: I'm not great at the whole "quote" thing so hopefully everyone won't be too confused by my not doing it and I wil try to keep this short)

As far as the whole LW vs LA discussion, I found Spacey's breakdown of things very interesting as I didn't realize the difference in cost between the two. However, I don't feel that the game is really tipped that far in favor of LW. Yes, LW players get all the weapons at the start. However, LA players can "keep spinning the wheel" as it were on thier weapons until they get the desired enhancement that they want. Then add to it that they can Max & Double the modifier, and I think it evens out and dare I say tips in the LA players favor. (Vorp +20 shock anyone?) LW players are basically stuck with whatever weapon enhancements we have unless someone either A) offers up a better weapon, B) dies and we pick up a better weapon, or C) we find a MWM and risk using it (and I only try that on shield guns). So playing LA may cost more but some of the benefits are much greater too.

Now about the new changes to the "shading" of the weapons, just as long as things aren't dropped too far (such as Vamp to 1% per +) then I don't see a real problem with it. I would suggest, and I know this might be either impossible or at least very hard to do, whenever there is a change to the weapons have an overlay that comes up like the player agreement to advise players of the changes. Anyhow, that is all I have for now.

I have a question on the new Rage weapon's skin, I got two this morning a link and mine layer, but it looked like a generic weapon. I'm just wondering if my settings may be too low to see the firey texture?

im wondering about the rarity of weapons, i assume that the * weapons are more rare than basic magic ones, but what are the probabilities for each, and what about the two new ones?

If you mean that you can see the rage skin on other weapons but not on these two guns, then I have no idea.

If you mean that you have never seen the rage skin, then your video card cant handle processing all the complex levels of combiners and shaders involved in this particular skin effect.

It's a known issue I discovered when I started using it on my Rage guns a couple of months ago. Any players who dont have a certain level of graphics card will never see this skin effect. Sorry, Epic made the shader not me or Druid.

Don't forget, alot of us LW warriors are more then willing to doll out some sweet weps to people in general, but (now I am speaking for myself, but I have seen several others do the same thing) if I know you are a LA junkie I will make an effort to toss ya a good 'un (inparticular vamp, healing (one that you can self heal), energy, and on occasion a vorpal (I die most of the time when I have one, so I usually give it up during the upper rounds). (And here I must say that there has never been a time that I asked any of the LA players to up my weapon and they said no.)
I think this type of "team work" (not really the term I'm looking for, but it must surfice I guess) is what Dru was shooting for when he made the "Choose your Path" modification.
Just wanted to tell ya "your not alone on the battle field friend", there are tweeks that must be done to balance out these paths, and I think it will be a long process of trial and error, just don't focus on "yours is better then mine" type of thing (or vis-a-versa) , it just adds an ugly edge to the whole process imho.

Eme, you make an excellent point here. I totally agree with you. Teamwork is what this game should be about and ever since I've been back it seems like people are helping each other out much more then they used to. I think Druid succeeded with interest here. lol

Just the rage in general, I kind of wrote that oddly. That's what I figured I was just curious

I disagree whole heartedly with the latter part of that statement. Much of the time we are "spinning the wheel" I will agree that we are looking for that something special. But, most of the time we get lesser weapons, and after spending hundreds and hundreds of points to spin that wheel (100 per shot) or boosting a weapon for a buddy (150 per shot) we often settle on just a lucky +4 flack as there is nothing worse than hitting the later waves with crapola.

Ya this would be an advantage if we weren't sacrificing our health. We do not regenerate, we do not have vampirism and are putting much on the line for about 60 seconds of that +20 vorpal. You should see how fast your adrenalin drains when ya click that button (adren that could be used to heal). Also, having to scout health when so many LW folks soak it up who have vamp and regen makes it even harder to enjoy that one minute of glory.

You have no idea how much I envy that. Though I worked through the LW class and didn't switch to LA until over level 100, I really miss having all those guns at the start, vamp, regen, etc., etc. Of all of them, I miss my lightening gun. Most maps don't have one, and many don't have any of the ONS stuff or other weapons you have at loadout (Face Classic- no flack, lightening gun, or ONS weapons). So we do with out those too.

Sorry if it sounded hostile, that wasn't my intention. And, this has been an ongoing debate for some time as very few have witnessed both sides of it. I know from experience that it is a very hard class to play, much more difficult than LW and I love it. It is a difficult challange and that was what the conciever (Dru) intended. It is obvious in past discussions that anyone who hasn't done both won't understand.

So, come to the dark side Luke.......and see for yourself.

I agree with Chyster that LA players have a tougher road. I think the *ideal* would be that the LA class is perhaps more difficult to master than LW, but maybe offers a better eventual payoff.

I think when you boil it all down, the biggest advantage/disadvantage lies in vamp/regen.

Ummm, no. lvl "almost 70" doesn't really cut it on either side.
