I know alot of us are movie-goers or watchers. We should have started something like this over the summer when most of the bigger hits, hit the theaters....anyway sometimes I won't go to see a movie or rent it because I either think it will be a waste of money or that it wouldn't be something I cared to see. I have been wrong on that numerous times, I realize that when a friend or family member tells me about a movie I didn't think I would like and so I go and rent it and realize I was wrong and wished I would have seen it earlier.
So on that note... I thought it would be cool for fellow movie watchers to post any new movies they've seen recently and let us know how you rate them.
I'll start...

Just watched Stay Alive.... a movie about a handful of gaming friends that get thier hands on a game that is being "tested". It's a horror flick, but yet has the one funny gamer guy that gives you a few laughs. I believe it's rated R from strong launguage, violence and some very brief nudity.
I actually rented it because my teenage daughter wanted to watch it, so I had to screen it first.... overall I'm gonna say it was a decent movie, I really thought it would be a total B, but I got a lil freaked out now and then and thought it was cool that within like the first 30 mins of the movie Unreal Tournament got some props. Not too shabby IMO.
If we were rating from 1-10...10 being totally awesome... I would give this movie a 7...maybe I'm being a lil generous, but I'm a true gamer and enjoyed watching a gaming type of movie.

Awesome, I love this since I've just started to watch the movies people have been raving about for some time and now in college everyone owns them!

So, the first movie was Chronicles of Narnia. I read the books when I was young and loved them, but didn't think it would be a great movie so I put off watching it for awhile. I was extremely wrong, this is a fantastic movie, the story is right along with the book and the filming is top notch. If you haven't seen it, this is a definate! 9/10 for me

Second was Saw. The name and concept are not too appealing to me, but from the hype I had to see it. It is creepy and gross at times, but for anyone who watches horror movies it's not too bad. I liked the whole mystery aspect of it, and what sold me was the ending to the movie... absolutely the best ending to a movie I've ever seen. Liked the movie for the most part, loved the ending so it gets an 7.5/10

Lastly I just finished The Boondock Saints (not 3 minutes ago for the first time). Older, but also very good. The story is very well done and the characters are excellent. This may be my favorite William Defoe(Goblin from Spiderman) movie ever. It reminds me of Batman Begins in a sense only a much better script and actors. It's more on the action side, but is good for some laughs. Another great movie and it will also get a 9/10.

-on a side note, these three movies are some of the best movies I've seen in a long time. So up top there's something for everyone!

I agree that thier should be movie reviews going around
I just saw "Hollywoodland" about two days ago.. To make a long story short, i paid 10$ to take a nap. The acting was great, however the story line was boring non-entertaining and well, just bad. It was 126 minutes. I beleive, that it could of been 20 minutes to save the time and energy. It had no suspense they showed the same sence several times. Theirs some parts that a child and some immature teenagers should NOT see, Well.. several. If you dont know the orginal story, this movie wont help you understand anymore. You will get confused if you dont pay ateention (as hard as it is.) It was rated "R" for langauge Strong sexual content and some semi graphic sences
It also got an "A" rating on cnn.com.. However I beg to differ i give it a C- The only thing that was stopping me from giving it an F was the acting.

P.S. The previews where SO much better, some good movies coming out it seems

I did the same thing with Saw... I thought oh great ...another "B" horror flop.... then I heard everyone talking about it, so I rented it... and WOW I LOVED it! I am a horror buff, and have been really disapointed lately with some of the recent horror flops... but Saw was great as well as Saw 2.
I also bought Cronicles of Narnia...haven't watched it yet, but the kids seem to watch it alot, I'll have to steal it from them one evening, Thx for the info!

The first Grudge crepperd me out... just the way the character moved, was trippy... I rented that one, but when Grudge 2 hits theaters Oct.13, I will be there! Makes the experience much better IMO.

I agree... I thought it was a big waste of money...not scary at all.

Have anyone seen Slient Hill? It wasn't the greatest horror flick but had a couple good graphics areas.... on a side note what I found interesting is that there is actually a town that happened to... not the "zombies" lol, but the burning, from 1962 and it is still burning to this day...

Oh, i forgot about Silent Hill. I just watched that about 3 days ago and I have strong feelings on this one.

Well if you don't know, Silent Hill is possibly the most creepy and insane game I've ever played in my life and I love it. The game's story line is incredible and the lighting gets you into that nervousness state for the whole game, so if something jumps out, you are clinging to the chair. It's odd, horror flicks aren't my thing, but after seeing the Movie Silent Hill I went out and bought the games to play again.

So the movie... from playing the games and being scared half to death multiple times I was thrilled about this movie. The story to the movie roughly follows the first Silent Hill game and I greatly enjoyed the atmosphere and creation of Silent Hill in the movie. However, the movie has good points and bad. Now who can't be freeked out by a Pyramid Head guy, he was worth seeing the movie for... but the downside was the scare affect. This movie did not scare me one bit therefore it didn't compare at all to the games and I was extremely disapointed. All I can say is one part totally grossed me out and If I saw the movie again I'd skip the one scene. Overall the movie is a good story and I like how it follows the game (somewhat) , but the parts that make the games so awesome did not get put into the movie ie: anything scary. They seemed to play with your head too much, like you expect something to happen, but nothing does . Horror fans may be a bit disapointed, and Silent Hill fans will also be a bit let down. I'm glad such a great game was made into a movie, but it could have been much better. So 6/10 for me, if it was scary it would have been much higher.

If you're looking for a horror game, check out any silent hill and they'll do the trick lol. Until we meet again Silent Hill.....

OK, Horror Movies

The sickest movie i have ever seen is by a japanese film maker named "Takashi Miike" called "Audition (Odishon)"

One review said "But it is during the last fifteen minutes or so that Audition enters into the genuinely disturbing with some of the most extreme and seat-squirmingly uncomfortable scenes of torture ever placed on screen"

I agree, but waiting for the last 15 minutes took some time.

True horror buff? , this is a must see.

You know, seems like these days horror films are just "let's see just how gory and sickening we can get." How about the old classics? Like Frankenstein or House on Haunted Hill with Vincent Price? I know its not scary by today's standards, but I still enjoy them! Or even Clue? That's more of a mystery, but movies don't have to make people sick to their stomachs to be enjoyed.

But...while we're on the subject of horrors...one I enjoyed was the Ring. I love the twisty, make you think, make you go "oh yeeeahhh" when something happens movies.

Saw was a little on the icky side, but I admit, I wanted to watch the sequel. Loved the twist.

OFF the subject of horros...a couple movies I wouldn't reccomend are 12 Monkeys and The Cell. Jennifer Lopez? Come ON! What were they thinking? Those were two movies I was dying to see the credits. Ick.

Boingo,

On that thread I would recommend, "The Young Poisoners Handbook" 1995

No gore at all, but a twisty creepy plot i couldn't shake off for years.
