I gotta say I'm really proud of my vamp character and all, but playing as a medic is SUPER fun. After a single night I'm lev 20 and it was so nice to not always be dying all the time... and moreover to keep others alive.

But anyway, I have no idea what I'm doing with my stats. Does anyone know:

- Does damage bonus enhance healing powers?
- How important is "Experienced Healing"? I mean, does 1% really matter?
- Does weapon speed affect the medic gun at all (mine seems to shoot slower than the regular version)?
- How effective is the medic rocket launcher vs. a regular rocket launcher at damaging enemies?
- A regular Healing +N Rocket Launcher vs. the medic rocket launcher: which is better for healing?
- Are monsters worth it? I mean will they earn you any XP?

Thanks!

Great to have another medic aboard. All classes help the team, but medics help ME.

From what I know:
DB matters a little. Although we discussed this, no one ever came up with solid numbers. The current thinking is that if the friendly DR is greater than your DB, your healing gets reduced a bit. So, if you have DB 50 or greater, that will never happen. Again, I have no concrete evidence for this.

EH: Yes. MAJORLY important.

Weapon speed: Get your speed to 50 as soon as you possibly can. As far as your healing capabilities go, LM3 and WS 50 are your primary two objectives.

Medic weapon: Any weapon you make medic would do 6% extra damage flat rate.

Weapons "of healing" do 1% extra damage per plus and range from +1 to +3. They heal up to 50 over the target's health max, and do not have infinite ammo. So, the best healing weapon you can get is "of healing +3."

The medic weapon is technically a weapon "of healing +6 of infinity". So, not only can it heal according to your LM skill (up to 150 instead of 50), it does 3% more damage than the best "of healing" weapon, AND it has infinite ammo. A pretty good deal.
See this post.

Monsters are critical to leveling at an acceptable rate. Even with EH 10, you'll need to kill mosnters to keep your XP going. From what I understand, at EH 10, you can expect around half your XP to come from healing and half from monsters.

Experianced healing goes up to level 9 only. It helps much more then you think it would, but the problem is how many points it takes to get to level 9. I just reset my medic charactor recently, and this is what I did:
27 Starting Experiance Points:
1-Monster/Medic Master
18- Loaded Medic 1 - 2 - 3

All the points from then on till level 26 were spent on experianced healing. A total of 152 I beleive it is.

I don't suggest doing that though, that took much longer to level up then if I had gone and first bought some weapon speed, maybe some HP, and some DB/DR. In any case, I now intend on maxing my weapon speed, then my DB, then some DR, then some HP. Till around level 50/60 or so. Then I might buy some monsters, or just reset my character again(might go for a pure monster master); haven't decided yet.

But the thing to keep in mind, is that you can't have a pure medic character, you need to still kill things. Experianced healing can get you a boatload of XP, but that's only after you put a boatload of points into it; and there are lot's of high HP players on when your playing, and it doesn't hurt to be the only medic either.

Nice! Very useful. Following your advice... I'm up to 30% weapon speed, LM2, EH2 and as long as DaRedEye doesn't connect I can survive til about wave 12.

I went heavy on monsters initially so I'm MP6 and LM5... I can summon a Mercenary. And I'm thinking even when I'm running around killing things as fast as I can, he's earning me at least 1/3 my exp. He's kind of dumb though: he has to be attacked by something before he'll attack back.

The best part about being a medic is running around with the rocket launcher like a toddler, just firing it into everything. Maybe I kill something, maybe I heal someone, maybe I heal myself... aaaah whatever... WHEEEeeee! =-)

Kat, try this. First, back up \UT2004\System\User.ini by copying it elsewhere.

Then, open up User.ini in Notepad or your text editor of choice.

Find the sequence of lines that begin with Aliases[##]. At the end, make the first two unused aliases look like this (My first two unused aliases were numbers 36 and 37):

Aliases[36]=(Command="Toggle bFire",Alias="TogglePFire")
Aliases[37]=(Command="Toggle bAltFire",Alias="ToggleAFire")

Then, find the two keys you'd like to bind to toggling primary and alt fire. I used mouse wheel up (for primary) and down (for alt). Then, make them look like this:
MouseWheelDown=ToggleAFire
MouseWheelUp=TogglePFire

Tada. You can now toggle your primary and alt fire on and off by hitting those keys.

EXP Healing is very important. I'd suggest getting to at least level 7. Wep speed is the most important buy imo as not only do you heal faster but you can launch more rockets at your target.

I haven't bought any of the monster master stuff so I'm not sure how much XP you can get from it, but I think points would be better spent on raising your health bonus and damage reduction so you can get ghost ASAP. That is what I am currently working on.

I believe the medic rocket launcher to be the best healing weapon. Not only can you heal yourself, but because of its splash damage you can get pesky dodging monsters. I'd use the rocket launcher with my LW if I didn't kill myself with it. As a medic you have infinite ammo and no chance of self damage, therefore you can load up 3 rockets and jump right into monsters. I suggest on titan waves you make a medic link gun and if possible link up with another medic, link chains are insanely powerful.
