2 Weeks ago went to a water park with friends. Anyway, jammed thumb (right). I could not bend it down (1/2 only). Yesterday I hit on my car shiffter from the side and all I will say is ohh boy that hurt. I went saw the specialist this morning.

Well it was broke and imagine this, right on the side were I felt the most pain. Well my hand is now in a cast. Fingers are free (except just the tip of the thumb) and it goes down a fair ways past my wrist (about the length of an index, middle finger).

The space bar is trouble, but everything on the keyboard is fine. Now the mouse is a big problem. I can click but dragging the mouse around is tough because I can not grip it.

Doctor says 5 weeks and then I go into a removable cast.

I will try but it is going to be interesting playing UT2K4.

Look at the bright side! You'll give the medics tons of points!

Hope your thumb heals quick and well!

I never played like a pro, I am just a wanabe and I accept that. With the cast, it is going to make it interesting. So I will be able to move good (WASD, left hand) but my aiming side will be alot off. Hey thats ok, I play for fun.

Also I will take a picture of me and post it soon. People will be shocked. I am a 6 foot 5" balding older GEEK.

This kind of injury (and the many that have followed from that time) are the reason that I changed over to a track ball. I hope that you heal fast and well.

Try duct tape to grip the mouse.

You mean I really am important? How I feel when I'm drunk is correct?

Or valcro! Anyway, hope you heal well and fast, maybe we can convince one of the medics to stop at your house and drop a few shots of the ol' medic link into your thumb!

I can definately sympathize with you, having hurt my hand awhile back too, but luckily for me mine wasn't broken. I'm very sorry though. You should keybind your fire and primary fire, it helped me a lot. Maybe start a medic charactor that way you're always healed. I hope you recover soon.

That is very funny about the medic thing. I am in awwh, how nice you folks are here. Just played offline and going to hit the online now, and I can tell you that right hand thumb is casted away from the mouse. No way of getting it to hold.

Ahh should be fun.

Thanks again for all you wonderful suppport. My wife gets a kick out of it because she says "no gaming?". I laugh and say my thumb is not gone.

FYI, my work said that the story of it happening at the waterpark is incorrect and the true story they started was that I got upset with unreal and borke my hand.

What I can tell you is that I am ok on how I hold the hand (still can not use thumb on mouse), but I do well for average movement left and right side and up and down aiming very good. My big problem is I can not turn around 100%. I have to stop and lift of the mouse to and reposition.

Maybe I should learn how to use my toes for mouse movement? LoL.

Actually, there may be some help for you. Try to up the mouse sensitivity in the input sections of the ut settings. It could take some getting used to , but you can cut down on the amout of movement needed to do 360's drasticaly.

Awesome idea I can not wait to get home to try it. I played 1 game and many offline to try to get my turning around solved and no luck. I hate it when you can hear a powerful monster behind you and you can move quickly but you can not turn around quickly. Last night I just wanted to tell the monster, "hey wait about 10 seconds and then I will kill you", lol.
