Wow, no doubt a possible future investment.

I wonder what it would sound like even without the card...

I was just playing a little bit with it, I noticed some difference but it might have just been placebo. I'm assuming it does something, but not really that much noticable. Granted I do have a rather shoddy sound card and speakers, but it still didn't seem to do much.

I have the sound card in question, but 2.1 speakers and heard zero difference.

Looking at the linked page, the default for most of the settings is to rotate through the available files. This includes the default UT2004 audio. So it's entirely possible that you didn't hear a difference because there WAS no difference. Did you try enabling the enhancements via UT command line?

I don't have the sound card either, but I'm applying the patch anyway. This sounds too cool to pass up. With any luck, I'll blow the onboard audio and HAVE to get the better one

EDIT:
After downloading and trying it, I'm less enthusiastic. I can't tell any difference, either. That may have more to do with my not having the right sound card, but the fact that Moof does have one and can't tell the difference either doesn't encourage me.

It could be jsut an amount of speaker thing too. Since I just have 2, he has just 2.1, and I'm not certain how many you have.

I have 2.1 as well. I also have enough speakers lying around that I can get a 4.1 going. I'll give that a shot.

I don't have this card, but the Audigy 2 ZX, I think it is. I can't use the surround sound or 3D sound when I have voice chat on. If I do, then I can't hear anyone. So, does this new card not have that problem?

Voice chat is very patchy with the 3D sound. I just more or less ignore that though.

I just discovered that the patch killed my voip chat, too. Now I've got to figure out how to remove it.

EDIT: Ok, initial investigation reveals that in addition to the ISACT directory, the patch also adds a file called isactwin.dll to the System directory. Not sure if it modifies any other files. Just to inform others who want to remove the patch.

Chameleon: how do you fix it so you do have voice chat?

Make sure System Driver is unchecked. That's a bug Epic never fixed.

The only way I could get that card into my computer is if I removed the Antec V cool in my computer. No way...
