I keep getting booted out of UT with a critical error. Here is what pops up:

UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2005-11-23_16.22]

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 2082 MHz with 511MB RAM
Video: RADEON 9800 PRO (6599)

General protection fault!

History: KBodyGetActor <- BodyGetDoubleRate <- KBuildPartitions <- KWorldStepSafeTime <- KTickLevelKarma <- TickAllActors <- ULevel::Tick <- (NetMode=3) <- TickLevel <- UGameEngine::Tick <- Level Hall Of Giants 2004 <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Realloc <- 10910191 0 FArray <- FArray::Realloc <- 0*2 <- FMallocWindows::Free

Any ideas?

Have you downloaded new skins recently?

I had a very similar problem due to a skin.

Yes I have. Which skin was it that caused your problem?

I know the Shadow the Hedgehog skin did the same to me, but that's the only one I can think of that I've had a problem with.

I just checked & I don't have the Sonic skin on my system. Anyone else think of any skins that would cause this?

Are you getting this all the time ever map or just one map? What skin have you downloaded recently? Do you have the latest patch? These are things you have to ask yourself.

It is not every map. I can go two or three maps and then it happens OR it can happen just minutes into a map after connecting to the server. I am checking the skins now to see which ones I downloaded recently and I have the latest patch.

I'm pretty sure it was the superman Martian skin, from the mystic post.

I've had that skin since Mystic posted it, so I'm pretty sure it's not that one

could be because the upl is now referecing a texture that does not exist

Always a good idea to make a new upl for your skins..

Whatever it was it seems to have gone away but I had to reload about 100 skins as the .utx files for them weren't in the textures file for 2K4. Weird. Still never figured out what caused it.

Try using search in the UT2004 folder (with all subfolders), if there are any .utx files that are not in the Textures folder copy them and paste into the Textures folder. I extracted a few and they had misnamed folders.

whenever it happens, go back in and take a screenshot of who is playing on the F1 screen. After about 5-10 crashes on different days, maps, times, etc. then find out what player is in all the games and then try deleting that skin.
