Just a thought regarding players who level up during play.

At this moment in time, the only notifier of another player leveling up during the game is a message displayed alongside the text message banter. As these aren't read out by the text to speech system, this message can be lost during heavy fire rounds. How about a graphic display on screen when a player levels up? It could be placed in the same way as the yellow writing informing you of available stat points, possibly accompanied by a sound cue of some kind.

Is there any way this could be integrated without proving to be a distraction?

It seems like it's just you and me, kid!

But seriously, the sound clips could be tailored, if possible, to determine how far up the ladder you've reached. So those who are just progressing through the early levels could get, say, a poite applause, and those who reach the higher levels could get a huge cheer.

Just another little incentive to keep the interest up.

It is something that could be done, but it's in a part of the RPG code that's written by Mysterial, and would be hard for me to change without re-releasing the UT2004RPG.

You might get more feedback on it if you posted about it on his forums http://mysterial.linuxgangster.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=6

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

I like that idea as well.

One thing tho, lately when i lvl, it doesnt say peashooter is now lvl (X). It actually doesnt say anything. Somtimes when im playing i lvl and i dont notice till the next game. Well figured i would just let you know of that.

If anyone has this issue, please ask if other people in game noticed it or not. That way we can determine if it is a bug.

I have noticed a number of times when someone will say that they didn't get a message, but other people in the game saw it (we all get a little busy killing things sometimes .

Actually not seeing the message isn't all that surprising if the bandwidth to your connection is saturated. It's entirely possible that the u nreal engine had to make a decision about showing you bullets, or damage you'd taken, or a "You've leveled up" message and simply decided the other options were more important.

i have to agree that a rock flying at my face is more important than leveling up...

OK then, what about this:

If a message on-screen is too distracting for some, then what about a message that appears once the game has ended? You could have a table much like the 'F1' scoreboard that appears after the final round (or in the event of a loss) that lists the players that have levelled up during that particular game and their current level. Hell, if you want to really add some sparkle, you could configure it to display medals and the such, much in the same way as an AS scoreboard.

I like the idea. A voice that says "Level Up" or something like that when someone levels would be cool. Or any sounds for that matter. Different sounds for lower, middle, and higher levels would be cool too.
