Druid will probably say no to this, but I'll toss it in the discussion pot anyway.

On a separate thread, Spacey mentioned the old D&D game, and a thought occured to me. I haven't played it for well over 20 years, but I seem to remember that elves were both fighters and magic users.

So, why not allow people to belong to more than one class?? Options could be

a) Belong to multiple classes. First class you buy costs 1 point. Next one costs 100 points. Effectively restricts it to high level players as lower players have better things to spend on. Then can buy skills from either class.

b) Allow you to change class. Say if you are in the Weapons Master class, you could switch to the Adrenaline Master class for say 50 points. You would keep all your existing skills from the Weapons Master class, but could only purchase new skills from the Adrenaline Master class.

c) Be able to buy skills from other classes. Because they are outside your skill area, then the skills cost say three times as much. So an Adrenaline Master could buy regeneration, but it would cost a lot.

d) Create new 'multiple classes' e.g. a 'Weapon and Adrenaline Master' class. Player could buy from either class, but everything costs 50% more.

My thought is that there is a lot of arguing going on about "why can't this class have this skill", or "that class is better because of this". If you make it so everyone can buy everything (eventually), it gets rid of the arguments. "If you want it, you save up and buy it". Might improve team co-operation, because everyone is in the same boat.

Just a thought.

heh.

The original idea for the Adrenaline Master class came from someone who exploited the triple damage, a high damage flak or rl, lots of adrenaline, and the adrenaline skills. He had LW 5 so it wasn't hard to get a high damage flak or rl.

He was literally unstoppable in a game. He jumped almost a hundred levels in less than a week with regular scores over 3000.

It was clear that a separation had to be made, and all the adrenaline skills disappeared from the server for a time.

Even allowing the skills to be purchased for a multiplier of the cost just leaves me shuddering to think of that happening again. Eventually someone would get there and unhinge the play for everyone else.

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

LOL. I was just thinking, go artifacts until you get a triple and some adren skills and then switch to LW and kill EVERYTHING. LOL. Does that player still play on the server?

No, he was gone after that. What's sad was I was about to do exactly what he did. Buy adrenaline surge(already had adrenaline drip) and then rack up points with the triple. The day I was going to guy it, dru had just took it down the day before. Too bad.
