Intel has a fast chip, but from what I hear AMD is coming out with a faster one very very soon. Personally I have 2 intels and they do me just fine...

To be honest though, in the end your not going to notice a huge difference between the two unless your running a bazillion things at top end specs.

I'm still playing on my amd XP2500+. Thing works great still, and AMD has done nothing but build better faster chips for about 3 years since I got this one.

good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.

from what I've been hearing AMD's got intel beat at the top-end. When I build my UT2007 box I'm going AMD.

Well here is what i ended up going to be getting in the next couple of weeks

Processer=3.2 HT pentium 4 (478 chipset)
Video Card=6800 OC Nividia (AGP)
Memory= Dual Channel 2x1048 pc 3200 (184 pin)

Hoping this will run the ut2007 b/c ut2004 is all i play right now So i hope it does play ut2007 can someone tell me if it will thanks.Ohh and its all going to cost me plus Shipping and Handling 737.86 Not bad huh?The only reason i did the chip is b/c i didn't want to have to change out my motherboard

I dunno, I'm getting and AMD Athlon 64 Sempron 3600+, nVidia GeForce 6800 256MB (PCI Express, SLI compatible), 2 gigs DDR400 Memory, a motherboard to support it all, a kick-arse case, an adequate supply, all of that for under $550, including shipping. Though I think one reason it's so cheap is that I'm just sticking with me old 70GB HDD; it's not like I'm going to be loading up with billions of music videos .

Say what you like, but I am an Intel chipset man. Never had a bit of trouble out of one.

I've never had trouble out of an AMD. If it's good enough for Sun servers which are typically ranked at the top for uptime, it's good enough for me...

Of course, it's also good enough for this very server.

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

When it comes to gaming, AMD has Intel beat, better bang for your buck. Other things like encoding and multitasking, Intel has AMD beat (i think though this may have changed now as i have not been keeping too up to date lately).
Me, im running an AMD xp1800+, which is very old (came out in 2000 or 2001), and it runs ut2004 fine for me. My next comp will prolly be some sort of AMD64.
