I thought I'd bring this up here since the topic may be related to the current problems I've been having with a somewhat new player thats often on the server. According to their statements made in game, I'm "trying too hard to get the highest score", and "I'm just plain rude for blocking their shots". I'm sorry if my playing style is aggressive. I'm a weapons master with poor aiming skills, so I translocate very quickly to where ever I see monsters and kill the monsters at close range. I'm not purposefully getting in anyone's way or trying to steal kills, its just the way I play. It's all a big blur actually and I hardly have time to notice other players. I just try to kill everything I see. As far as I know I'm not outside the bounds of DC etiquette. If I am, others should chime in and let me know and I'll try to change my style accordingly.
Nevertheless, Im bringing this up here so this person will stop making in-game critical and snide remarks toward me. As I said before, if Im in the wrong, I'll change my style, but right now, I dont believe my play is out of bounds. I've played on this server for maybe 4 or 5 years and this is the first time someone has been unfriendly toward me and made me feel unwelcome in game and I'd really like it to stop.

I know exactly how you feel shimmy. I used to chuckle when players would complain, seemingly endlessly, about Elite's play. Some players would quit when he joined as a lame sort of protest but really they just didn't appreciate how play changed when he was in game. I find a few players complain about me and the kills I make. I do understand, I was once a low level player and it was frustrating to be working hard on killing a skarrj only to have some high level player flash through the room and waste "my" skarrj with one shot. I'm really not sure how to approach it. I'm not all that great, just a very high level. I guess it makes me look better than I am but truly it's about being lvl 900+ more than anything. I certainly don't want to ruin anyone's experience. But I play to release stress. All I want to do when in game is kill freaking monsters! Every freaking monster I see including those little dots on my radar. I race to them and I'm a fast mover. I seldom even notice any other players. Every monster has a bright bar above it's head, that's really all I see until I kill the freakin thing. And the Berzerker is soooo awesome at killing monsters! Anyway I have had a couple players basically accuse me of "stealing kills" and it's disappointing to hear. It's really not my intention. Needless to say, I have come to really know what it was like for Elite. It's not me, it's the RPG. I'm just trying to kill every monster I see, more or less just like everyone else. Problem is, I kill them fast and I am perpetually running around looking for more. It could be worse, it could be Elite or some other truly great player that's sitting in the 900+ level. Now that would be a scary thing to watch and a frustrating player to play with.

Any player above level 350 will have the same problem. Acutally, I love it when a bunch of low level players are on when I do play my wm since the kills are so much easier, running thru a room with weps blasting and watch them fall, but I think we can all relate to the feelings of those low level players.................As high level players, we do need to be aware of the health level of that particular monster and if someone has been peppering it down and not kill it so that the player can get the "kill". Yes, I know, it's hard to do sometimes.

New players do not realize that every bit of damage inflicted does give them xp, even if they do not kill it.

I may not be as good or as high lvl as others but at 110+ on most of my char's I have had blitz's that I go on and do some massive damge to the beasties and I've had comments on a rare occasion also when it was a bunch of new ppl to the server , but they also where try'n to play like they do on other servers and had their ways about the play style they did. On some of them I would explain to them how we play here and others I'd just growl at! lol

Demon,
In regards to your suggestion to taking it easy around low level players I'll mention this rather odd fact. The person that has a problem with my playing style is actually a very good Adrenaline Master player who very often has a higher score than I do, but for whatever reason my playing rubs him the wrong way.
I will admit however that when I've played with Elite-Junkie, I've been somewhat frustrated by the way all the monsters just seem to magically disappear all over the map as I try to get my kills. Thats just the way things are though and I'd never ask him to change his playing style for me. Fun can be had by all. I'll just have to up my game to get my normal number of kills. Or else get better at playing an AM character.

LOL, I'm sure that some players have issues with my style of play as well. However, I'm not avocating any change in playing style, just that sometimes we need to be more aware of lower level players' bringing a monster health down and we swoop in and finish it off, thus ticking off that player.

What is interesting, tho, from my watching various high level players, they do play very much the same way, take the same risks, and generally have just enough of difference in their modes to identify them but very little else.

Bringing up Elite is a great example of the extreme monster killing machine
he could waste an entire room of monsters in no time.
I enjoyed playing with(/against ) him and always felt more challenged by him being around he really made me improve my lazy style of play

As far as lower level player issue ,I think a little respect should be given as it has takes a long time for some of us to get to the level we are at,
and if your around that long on this server you have to have
A) made some friends along way
B) learned from those around you
C) learned to play nicely
D) enjoyed your time here

P.S. good to see you back Shimmy ,and to everyone else I still do get here every now and then cause I do miss you guys

P.P.S Remember Weapon Masters kill monster that is all they can do that is all they want to do (and if you ask nicely I'm sure they'll move to another area of the map for you)
