Well, here it is, more than a year later, and this thing is still not ready. Maybe next year. They teased a number of people at BlizzCON just recently.
But like other games they make, it will be done when it is done. Make it right the first time is best...but dang!

Well, played the open beta and...........

Some observations.

Gameplay is fairly tight. Works well with combat and skill sets. A little bit more streamlining is in order. Like the drops and crafting is functional. Co-op play is good, but needs a bit more cohesion. The basics are there, but co-op feels a bit disjointed.

Weapons and drops are cool. Reminds me of the old Diablo games. Story is servicable so far. Fun factor is definitely there.

I won't be pre-ordering, but it's a maybe-purchase at this point. Keeping in mind, I was a HUGE Diablo fan previous to this installment.

We'll see what the finished product looks like.

I've played to about half-way of Act II (Memorial Day weekend) and I like the game. Haven't had much time to go back to it but hopefully this weekend.

Im on inferno of Act 2, it is impossible, blizzard made it ridiculously hard. act 2 is like 3x harder than act 1, any resistances I accumulated over the past difficulty have proved useless in this act. Everything kills me in 1 shot, even the weakest monsters take at least 2 hits to kill me. Furthermore in order to get the required armor for the act would cost a fortune of gold pieces, all the good gear is also extremely expensive in the auction house. If anyone has any advice I would gladly take it.

Only played the first one way back. Thought it was ok. Is the gameplay on the third one similar?

Movement is similiar but that's about it. Gameplay, graphics, etc. are far beyond even Diablo 2. If you are going to jump to Diablo 3 without playing Diablo 2, I would recommend reviewing the Diablo 3 websites and forums first to get some idea of the gameplay.

Remember, Diablo took place in one location (Tristam) and you just went deeper into the cavern. Diablos 2 and 3 takes you all over the Diablo world.

Of course, if you buy and play, I'm available to help you as well. The biggest thing is always upgrading your gear as much as you can.
