Yeah Darkstar, it's like autotaunt. There is no rule persay, but it is frowned upon. Like Acy said, if you just lump em all in the same post it would make life easier. I would probably try other skins, but noone would recognize me anymore...
If I remember right, this all started sometime back when a few players were posting a couple different skins a day, it was a skin off.

good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.

that's a good point cpl... I tend to recognize people more by their skin... however I do try new skins every now and then, but I don't post them because I always go back to my known skin. So if you're just testing out skins and haven't found a for certain one yet then I'd wait to post something till your sure

On that same note, I'll once again state my disgust for those people that 'copy' other players' skins on the game.

there's plenty enough to choose from....

I second that, or 'nth' that as the case may be. Skin-thieving is not very nice.* [edit ]

While on the topic though, two additional suggestions:

1 ) The "UT2004 Skins" section on the Forum Index could use some cleaning up i.e. each entry follows some format like "<username> Skins" or maybe even better... just username. That way, it will be a lot easier and more efficient to find everyone's skin for those who are looking. (To that effect, everyone please post your skins! ) I would volunteer to go through the threads and add them for all the ones I can find if wished. Not a problem. Let me know.

2 ) Adding a "Skin" field to everyone's Member Profile. Makes sense, in same way an avatar represents a person online in forum and instant messaging, a skin does so even more in-game. Skins are in-game identities and important in that way.

In general, I think skins are awesome and really like seeing people's different choices and such. To tell you the truth, I don't even mind downloading new skins from people who change theirs on whatever schedule they choose either. I think it adds a great element to the game both technical, like being able to recognize and distinguish people, and also purely aesthetic "eye-candy" enjoyment (an equally important aspect, I think). Skins add a whole layer of cool and customization, which is great.

So, if anyone wants me to go through and add as many as I can find to the UT2004 Skins Forum Index in some sort of consistent format, totally happy to do so. Also, maybe if we ask nice enough and if actually possible, we could also get a field added to our Member Profiles if everyone thinks that's a better idea. I'd love to see either happen and offer my help if needed as well as encouraging further discussion and some type of resolution. Seems there's enough interest already so maybe just time for decisions and action (/organization)?

What's the verdict everybody?

Instead of asking Dru to add a field to the profile... Why not just use the versatile space in your signature to advertise your skin of choice?

Totally agree that appending skins to signatures is certainly a step forward, but I'm wondering if maybe it's time for a leap?

The only problem with relying on skins in signatures is the fact that one has to actually track down one of each person's posts to see them. Fairly easy to do with some of the more prolific posters, but less so with those who don't post as much, or at all as is the case with a number of folks.

The advantageous thing about a profile field is that practically everyone has a profile, certainly everyone who participates in the forums. And since everyone already has to type their names and stuff anyway, why not hit them up to add their favorite skins at the same time? Maybe a logical spot for them. Plus, the Member Listing is already an organized database of sorts anyway, which makes it pretty easy to find exactly who you're looking for in no time flat. The good ol' alphabet to the rescue!

That's my feeling at least but would be curious to find out how everyone else feels and help out if/where I can. Either way, with the UT2004 Skins section or Profile field, we could certainly make the process easier for everybody. Speaking of which, would also be happy to tweak the cascading style sheet (style.css) if people are having a hard time distinguishing links and such. Doing some pro bono work for one of the chapters of The Foundation Fighting Blindness that involves a lot of accessibility stuff as well as just being a usability geek to begin with... Came up before and I'm all connected again (as of this morning) so turn-around time could be pretty quick if there are any requests or if Dru and Shan need people to share the load with / dump stuff on.

Would be nice to see an original version of the Terminator, not the robot part (unless it's just half his face) or the metallic one... but the original from Terminator.

ya know Cont, you could just take the Brock model and make the biceps about 5 times the size they are and you'd have a Lonnie look-a-like =)

or maybe just a model with wheels as biceps....?
