Hello my favorite friends!

Sorry it has been along time since I have played on line. I miss you all! I have received lots of notes from my UT friends on this server and I appreciate them. We have a good community of friends here, which I cherish. I am just a little weak and disheartened right now and trying to recover.

I have 2 very ill cats, Muggy has terminal lung cancer and Felix has serious swollen glands and spleen. He was first diagnosed with cancer 1.5 months ago. I do not smoke but use to 3 years ago. Muggy?s cancer did not show up in her x-rays last year but I am sure I caused it. The grief that I feel has stopped me from playing online as I can cry when asked how am I doing I am very sensitive. I am on disability with a physical illness and in pain daily, the thought of losing my baby girl Muggy has made me depressed. My cats are my life and rely on them for comfort. I can be myself around them and do not have to pretend I am well in front of them like you do with some people. I find some of my dearest friends want me to attend functions and get upset that I cannot attend due to my illness. They do not understand like my cats do.

In one month I paid $2,000.00 in tests and Vet visits. Felix needs further ultra sounds to monitor the glands and spleen. These tests are quite costly I never leave the vets without paying $400.00 plus. I am making organic catnip toys to help pay for the mounting vet bills. This also helps with the depression as my mind gets focused on something else.

When I am feeling stronger I will come back and play. Right now I am spending my time with Muggy, as she may not have much time to live. She has one bad day then she has several good days, she is up and down but not suffering. I will never let my cats suffer I pay for a Vet Tech to visit my home 3 times a week to monitor Muggy.

All the best to you all!

Love Miss Kitty

Know that we are thinking of you Miss Kitty and the cats, and offer our hopes that all will turn out well. (I can understand about the understanding and comfort a cat can give. I have 5 and don't know what we would do with out them.)

So sorry to hear about Muggy and Felix. I'm sure they realize how much you've done for them and they appreciate and love you for it. They have a wonderful human. I can't imagine a life without cats in the house since I've always been around at least one.

I hope you get back to fragging with us soon, Yvonne!

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO what a ride!"

I'm sorry to hear about your cats and everything you've had to go through, I know how much we care for our animals... they're their for us more often than we are for them. I hope you feel better soon, and know we're wishing the best for all of you.

Miss Kitty,

Your story sounds extremely familiar, and if you would not mind, I would like to know what you have which has you disabled...you will see why in a minute.

We went through that about two years ago with our cat, who was called strangely enough "Miss Kitty" (after the Gunsmoke character), and it was especially hard on my wife. She was diagnosed with both Fibromyalgia and Lupus about 4 years ago, and like you is disabled. Because of the constant pain which cannot be treated (her lupus is affecting her liver, which both pain killers and anti-inflam drugs both would damage as well) and what it has done to her (she gained lots of weight, cannot sleep well, etc.) she suffers from depression most of the time. But Miss Kitty would always come curl up around her feet or do similiar things, and was definitely my wife's cat, even though the cat was supposed to be my daughter Avis's...go figure. But Miss Kitty stopped eating quite so much, and would not even eat wet food, and then stopped drinking. At first we figured it was just nerves from Avis picking on her, but it progressed rather rapidly. About a week or 10 days after it started, we knew it was pretty serious, and it was all she could do to make a sound and try to curl up around Becky's feet. We took her to a 24-hr vet, and they told us they could not even find her kidneys, and the prognosis was very bad. They were not certain what it was, but the list included things like Feline Lukemia and they said that we could easily spend $5K or more and still not have her last more than a few weeks. Given how much pain Miss Kitty was in, we made the very tough decision to put her to sleep. We were not happy, and Becky was really bad off. The zoloft may as well have been candy...(of course, it never did seem to do much good, as most medicines do not work well, or work wrong with Becky).

We have a new cat now, a male Tuxedo named Blynx, who is again Avis's cat, which we bought during Christmas break 2004. But he is greedy for loving and takes all the attention we will give him. He was a real mess when Avis went to CA for her People-to-People Student ambassador trip for 2 weeks, and was constantly looking for her and going "ouw? ouw?" When we got Avis home, he was all over her for about 2 days solid!

So here are some huggs and to hopefully help you through this.

I hope everything goes well with Muggy and Felix. From what I have heard, they really do sound like good cats. I know how much it affects you as I have always had cats around me and I always will. Just horrible to think that they won't be around forever. I hope you are able to feel better soon Miss Kitty.

Many thanks to you all for the heart warming responses I really appreciate the support. I wish you, and your family and pets have a healthy happy New Year.

Muggy is on the rebound and doing quite well in spite of her cancer growth, it is now 1/2 size larger. I will have long with her so I pray every night and I think it is helping. Muggy does not look sick at all and is eating well. The vets do not know what is wrong with Felix his lymph glands and spleen are still swollen. They are not as large as they were before Christmas. He has to have a 3rd ultra sound in 2 months to see if there are any changes. His weight is still dropping he is not my big baby boy anymore he is now a sleek looking cat. I have to monitor his weight, as we do not want him to loose anymore. He still has asthma and I do not know the cause.

I am a still very busy making catnip toys to pay the vet bills but I am back playing a few games a night. It is wonderful to see my friends again I enjoyed myself immensely. This is truly a wonderful network of special people and I am blessed to play with you all. I am a little rusty but should be back in the saddle in a few days.

Thank you again,

Yvonne

Good to hear from you Kitty. I hope the both of them do well. Did the vet say anything to you about being careful with the enlarged spleen because it can rupture? I'm assuming they did white blood counts and checked for infections. Those are the areas that fight infections ie. where lymphocites are made along with white blood cells. What else have they tested for? Give them both a pat on the back for me.

Thank you for the warm welcome back.

With the time away from playing I have been making catnip toys. I listed a few on eBay and my name is bignosycat (if you would like to see them). It is too expensive to sell on eBay and I do it once in awhile to gain customers. If a eBay customer buys them they can email me for more as I put notes in the package for orders. Also our postage went up and it is very high this will cut into my little business. I would like to make a website. Know anyone that can do it for a good price?

Yvonne
