Does anyone have an idea of why people die from other's redeemer?

Is it a bug or its gonna stay like that forever? BEcause its very frustrating not being able to get revenge and kill other player back

Joke appart... its frustrating.

well, if ur talking about how ooo managed to kill about 6-7 people the whole game, he was problay to close to the deemer and it killed him. Im pretty sure, that what ever damage that is done to you by your own weapon that the same amout will be givin to the other players

It's even more annoying if it's a high level player. Last night one person (I am not naming) fired a redeemer too close, and took lots of damage. Fortunately he had enough health to take it. However two others of us got wiped out. Then it is even more frustrating to see the guy that killed you still playing!!

Still, accidents happen, and all of us have made mistakes. So, it's just part of the game. I would just advise if you see a redeemer missile in flight, go the other way.

Another possibility:

Redeemers tend to shove people around, giving them momentum.
Objects that have momentum tend to stop suddenly when impacting solid surfaces.
UT2004 possibly has a limit to how hard you can slam into something without taking damage.
Shoved hard enough under these conditions, you could lose all of your health.

Dru was asked this question in game, last night. His response was that people will be killed if the owner of the redeemer dies before the weapon detonates. The redeemer forgets who it belonged to when its owner dies and team damage somehow gets turned ON affecting anyone within the blast radius. Also, he stated that this would be difficult to change as it is seeded deeply in the core of the games programming.

Also Vortex's assessment is correct as I have had this happen to me. You can be 'hammered' into a wall hard enough to do deadly damage.

This has been a prevalent issue for some time. I believe Mystic has the record for most team mates murdered in a gaming career. However, purposeful misuse of this knowlege is highly frowned upon.

The short version is that its broke, dunno how to fix it and DO NOT intentionally kill other players on purpose.

I had this happen this morning with the same player kill me twice in a row firing the deemer. I don't think he died either time. I was glad I was on a "family server" too (read that as you like).

Now that you mention that I have a couple of thoughts. It's not so much forgetting which team the redeemer came from as being assigned that it isnt on a team at all and is just damage period.

Also, this might explain what we lovingly call the "dying shot" bug on our server. We have found that if you are playing on a boss wave, where the monsters are amped up alot from normal, and you kill the monster before his last shot actually hits you, then it will cause mad damage more than normal and you usually get gibbed from it.

So I take it when the monster dies the shot belongs to no one and somehow, through the magic of coding holes, his shot forgets that DR exists for the player and just goes out as massively amped damage.

This seems logic. However, it never hapenned in 1.74. Something changed. Right now it happens like once out of 5 redeemer. Each time i hear the sound of that dang missile i start getting heart attack

Its not a knockback problem. Its instant. As soon as you receive the redeemer, BOOM!

Yes it did. I have been playing here for over a year now and it was going on before then.

No, but if you notice that when your in the blast radius, it shoves you away from the center of the blast. If your in the wrong spot, like a tight hallway or corner, it can literally bounce you back and forth between the blast and the wall killing you.

One other note, I changed one word in your post above. It would be wise not to swear at all on this Forum. The player agreement you agreed to extents into here as well. Be glad I caught it and someone else didn't.

I can say for a fact that this problem goes way back. I have been unintentionally gibbing teammates with the ion painter for more than a year now. Not sure what causes it since it happens all the way accross the map from me and when people are not boxed in. It just seems pretty random, although I have a worse track record with this than most. When I return I will simply make an effort not to use my ion, maybe toss it. The redeemer is much less of a problem for me.

good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.

Once the redeemer does sufficient damage to kill the owner, it looses what team launched it. It then damages anything in it's radius. If the initial blast is enough to kill the owner, everything else will damage everyone.

This is an issue of the game, and would be not worth the effort to fix.

I've also seen it where it has sufficient force to throw a player against a wall and that causes them to die. This is so rare though... the other way is usually how it goes.

Also if someone with ultima physically leaves the game *after* their ultima has started (Little green splotch, or any point after) their ultma will kill anyone in the area. Mysterial has that one coded to attach to their PlayerController, so even when they're dead, it doesn't loose track.

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

I know that i accidentally killed two players last night and I was no where near the blast, I think it might have happend because once i shot off my deemer i had a RAGE weapon equiped so the damage from the deemer probaly damaged me also because of the rage weapon i had in my hand, that is the only reason that i can think of because like i said i was no where near the blast. Sorry for killing u guys, i will be more careful

Every time I see a nuke about to go off near me, my first instinct is to move away from the impact location, and JUMP at the same time so I end up surfing shock-wave away. I seem to incur less damage (if at all) letting it push me away.
