Ok. In the U.S. (and, from what I can tell the last time I was in northern Europe, elsewhere), it's Halloween season.

So, what's your favorite horror movie?

I say The Shining. Great directing, great acting, psychosis, ghosts, buildings built on ancient burial grounds...it's got it all!

The Shining was excellent, creeped me out as a kid. (we have a camp in the absolute middle of no where, and with all the snow... it was just creepy)
I love horror/gore flicks (everything from A to C rated flicks). My favorites would be:
The Shining
It
All of the living dead
Serpent and the Rainbow
The Thing
Event Horizone
Fall of the house of usher
Twilight Zone (does this rate as a horror flick?)
Creepshow (first one was better)
Faces of Death (I said gore, afterall)
...just some of the top ones off the top of my head!

Oh, and the worst horror flick ever devised:
Raw Head Rex

Creepshow was such a cheesy movie, but I did like the part that Steven King played. I would say that my favorite movie is also The Shining. I remember seeing it as a kid and I always wanted to go in a hedge maze. I thought that was so cool. Of course Tony was cool too. Any kind of talking finger is okay in my book.

28 Days Later, the musical score with the crescendoing music when he is walking through an abandoned London was a powerful scene.

Battle Royale was a very cool Japanese horror movie.

The House on Haunted Hill

(the new one as opposed to the old Vincent Price flick, although that one had its charms in its time)

Does Shaun of the Dead count?

Not really cause there is just enough comedy that nothing in the movie is really scary.

OH, I finally got to see that the other day, it was hilarious! WaHoo for the grade C movie!

Oh, and I don't know if this counts, but I loved DemonKnight! Zane was such a slimey demon in that, did a great job.

And another one I failed to mention, Tales from the Darkside! The movie was cool, but I loved the tv series.
