If you haven't gone and seen Serenity, do so. If you have seen it and liked it, go see it again and drag some friends with you.

Most of the people who have seen this movie loved it. If you like scifi or westerns, you will probably like this movie.

I agree! We saw it the Saturday of opening weekend with some friends (and the same night, my brother and his family did), and wish all we could go see it again. However, between halfway tight finances and several more movies coming out in the next month or so, we are just going to have to content ourselves with those until Serenity comes out on DVD.

I'd like to go see it... but....

I really get upset having to pay $20 for tickets for two and then another $10-$20 for any food and drink, and then find nice comfy seats right in the middle, and then start munchin on snacks only to see...

commercials.

As much as I like watching movies on the big screen, I really don't like how they are incorporating commercials (anything to make more money by sponsors). I'll wait for the DVD.

I really really hate to say it, but I totally agree with Gordon on this one. Having said that I am a movie junkie and cannot stop myself from seeing at least one a week unless I call my sponsor. It's ridiculous how much movies cost and then you sit through commercials. I don't mind previews, but commercials for TV shows, Coke, and all nonmovie crap is just unethical. Hollywood wonders why their ticket sales are down, it's not because the movies ALL suck, just to much nonsense in the theatre. Back on track now, I was skeptical about converting a TV show to a movie, but they pulled it off well. Fun movie, and an actual honest to goodness original story! History of Violence also rocked and the 40 Year Old is the funniest movie I have payed to see in five years, much more adult then the commercials let on.

Haven't seen serenity yet, but I do agree on the commercial thing... no need to be on time for a movie at say 7 when it really starts at 7:20 after the commercials, two thumbs way down. I really want to see a history of violence, big fan of Ed Harris ever since The Rock! Also the 40 yr old was hilarious as was wedding crashers! But still DVD's are the way to go over going to the movies these days which it really shouldn't be...

Geez....$10 for a flipping movie? Are there not any cheaper movies where you guys are? The movie theatre I usually go to only costs $5! There's always the dollar theatres too! As for the commercial thing, I totally agree. I'd suggest going late unless you go on opening day for a movie. The last time I went to an opening of a movie was the midnight showing of Batman Begins (*cough* comes out Tuesday *cough*). If you wait a while to see it, you can show up after the commercials and still get good seats. I hate going to crowded movies anyway, strange people always end up sitting by me. I am so not social.

I agree with BB. We almost never end up paying more than $7.50/adult, even before we consider matinee. Of course, then there is the almost obligatory snacks and drinks (which we really do not need the empty calories from, but...), which for three people really set you back more than they should.

As for DVDs, we have a rating system which basically says how strongly we want it on DVD for the DVD collection. Serenity was a "must reserve it as soon as possible", and many of the movies we have gone to see were "Gotta have it for the collection" or a rare "Get it sometime" (We are picky about what we go see). But I don't care how many grand you drop into a entertainment system, nothing quite beats the big screen.

This fall is going to be crazy... Zathura, Corpse Bride, Harry, Elizabethtown, Wallace & Gromit, Zorro, Narnia, Aeon... **PANT PANT** Those are the top pics, with perhaps Doom and Jarhead added on for good measure.

when I finally get a house, i will have it set up like a movie theatre. I already have a projector in mind. the Benq PB8220 which puts out great resolution. I will have a nice screen of course. And I'll have 7.1 surround sound too. With a projector, I can get rid of my big screen TV. The projector should be able to put out about a 10 foot screen. A friend of mine bought the projector that i researched and he says its the best thing he every did. No more big tv in the way. although his wife and kids use it all the time so he doesnt know what its like to watch any of his movies on it.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to second that one. And honestly, I could care less about the commercials. If I go out for a movie, thats my plans for the night! Very rarely do I plan to go do anything after the movie. So, if it takes a little longer because of a commercial, oh well. And some of them are hilarious! I must say though, and any movie going utard will agree, Dan the Laptop man has GOT to go.

Aaanyway, the theater experience for me is about the sound more than anything. The bigger and more intense the movie, the more I have to see it in the theater. Because explosions are just so much more fun in Dolby liquify-your-brains surround sound. (eg. bruckhimer flicks, batman, Sahara, etc...) Scary flicks are also great, also for the sound. (scary mind you, not slasher)

Back on subject tho, I'm stoked to see Serenity as well! Any flick that jumps to the top 130 on IMDB in the first weekend oughta be pretty good.

cheers.

I really hate that you say it too...Cause Deunan misses the Movie Popcorn!

Commercials give me more time to consume the popcorn and soda and have time to get more..

By the time the movie is over I'm full and he doesn't have to buy dinner..

Can someone mail me a popcorn bag, so i can lick off the butter?

I"m getting desperate here..

Movies by me are $10 for a matinee, so needless to say, I don't go to see movies that often. I need to find out what Serenity is first before I comment. I've never heard of it

Hahaha, you guys are all such good decent people. I sneak food into the theatres when I want it. Its cheaper and usually tastes better anyway. A box of Junior Mints and a little baggie of Oreos and I'm happy. I can't do drinks because it'll be guaranteed that I'll have to get up and 'powder my nose'...during a good part, nonetheless. As for the popcorn, can't you just ask them if they have a microwave you could borrow?

Wombat, I don't think I've seen Dan the Laptop Man. What does he do that's so bad?

Deu, Chameleon isn't far from you. Have him send you some popcorn bags! Be forewarned though....he burns popcorn.

Spacey, I totally agree with you! This fall is going to be wicked! I've seen Corpse Bride already. It was ok. I like Nightmare Before Christmas better. Zorro is going to kick butt. So will Zathura (I'm hoping...I loved Jumanji) and nothing beats Wallace and Gromit. I've got to read the Narnia books before I see the movie! EEEK!

Serenity was a series before it was a movie. Catch the DVDs first and make the movie that much more enjoyable.
