hi, i am posting this for those of you who have asked the origins of my name (mostly shan!! hahahaha)
back in my younger days i was quite the mean dungeon master (for those too young, dont ask, for those old enough, dont tell) and i spent hours at it. one thing created was a race of critters called kleze, a group of humanoids similar to MEN but genetically insane and generally vicious.
their leader/shaman was called "the emetakleze" (e- ethreal , meta- metaphysical, kleze-their race) he was learned in many things "magical". (generally the race as a whole were not the sharpest tools in the shed, but once a generation an intellectual was born with magical abilities) He also was a necromancer.
to make a long story longer... i had happened to come across a scetch of the emetakleze i had made then (i was actually planning to be an artist, ahh the dreams of youth), he looked like the stillborn love/hate child of the Witch King of Agmar and a Skullbearer, which was then resurrected by Fistandantilus and kept in the Lair of The Live Ones under Raistlin's Tower. (that is why i use brutalis as my char. in game)((yes i am a fantasy book reader aka nut)
The name apeeled to me again after so many years, i had actually forgoten it, so i took it as my own in any of the games i've played.
So there you go, the origin of emetakleze. (never really told anyone because, yes, i was a D&D DM in the early to mid 80's, which equates to geek nowadays i guess , according to "i love the 80's". lol!!!
Also, just to say, the text to speech in game pronounces it correctly, but most of you know you can just call me "em", its easier on both the typeing fingers and the vocal cords of some (emetakleze dosen't quite roll off the tongue like motaba does...)

I saw that Emetakleze described what his name means and I thought it would be nice to see where or why others use the the name they do.

My name is meant to pay homage to battle. Fodder is a term to describe soldiers regarded as likely to be killed or wounded in combat, an act I do a lot in this game. Also, I used to refer to my score on Asteroids, the one in arcades in the 80's as my Fodder Figure, a play on words as any George Michaels fan knows ops:

You mean I really am important? How I feel when I'm drunk is correct?

Mine came from my old Quake2 clan - we all had names based on the famous stuffed animals until (after Q3 had come out) the leader received a "cease and desist" letter from big bad two-letter corporation saying we couldn't use the names any more... well, the tag which was "parenthesis, asterisk, t, y, parenthesis" or (-*-t-y-) without the -'s... along with Clan Crayola, we were forced to change names and give up the domain name (it wasn't worth fighting it since they have much more money than we did) ... it became [t4e] (which really meant t-y 4 ever) and we played for a couple of years after that with that name.

I kept the name since there are a lot of people from the FPS community that knew me by it regardless of the tag... and the name carried to MMORPG's when some of the old clan started playing Asheron's Call (and subesequently Dark Age of Camelot and then World of Warcraft).

My previous name was related to The Lord of The Rings lore (it was the name of the race of the wizards) and I used it mostly in LAN parties. Long long ago I used "El Cid" for a long time in MUD's

My name was at first a joke that was started in my high school soccer team. Nobody could pronounce my last name and since I was kinda crazy on the field and when you say my first name (Mark) with my last it sounds like your saying macadamia (you have to say it fast though lol). It kinda stuck to me and I remember the good old days of freshman year in high school with this name. lol. The whole joke was "You're nuts, macadamia." (As in I'm nuts)

I came up with my name when I needed to develop a name for A.I.M. It took me a little while, until I saw an advertisement for lawn care I believe. On that sheet there was the word Pyramidion or something close, didn't know it even existed... never know it may not I could have been seing things. Anyways I used that name since AIM came out and have gotten kind of attached to it, so every game or name for such things as Fantasy football are always Pyramidion... I also kind of have a huge interest in ancient egypt so that may have played a factor too but that's how I got my name and I'm sticking to it!

cplmac - corporal mac
I was a corporal in the USMC and everyone just called me corporal mac rather than pronounce my whole last name.

And Spike, Nailer used to use El Cid every now and then too.

My name came from WAY back when I was hanging out with a friend of mine. We were talking to a friend of his that he had met at EFY. She introduced us to 1 of her friends. They kept asking us for pictures. Well, his dad has this fishing hat with about shoulder-length hair. I put it on and found some funny lookin' glasses with eyes on them. We took a picture of that and put it on their computer, and our first thought was that I looked like a Hobo. that's where Hobo came from,...Joe came out of absolutely nowhere; as we decided that I looked like a hobo in that picture, we started saying that we were going to tell those girls that my name was Joe and I was a Hobo that they took in off the street.

Now, it's my UT name

ahh.. the background/origin of Acydreign.

The name was created way back ('92 or so) when I was telneting to MUDs for my RPG fix.
The full name is Acydreign Illuminati. Of course, I was head of the House of Illuminati.

If your not familiar with Illuminati... google it =)

Acydreign of course is a play off Acidrain (which was my favorite spell to use on the MUD I played). I found it humorous that later there were 'other' things created using the same name.
If you google for Acydreign, you'll see there's software with the same name. some moron that plays first person shooters and (the funniest to me) even a band that shares the name.

My name was made first a little before I discovered IRC chat, before it I used to have it as an alias for a secondary email account, originally taken because the name "LoneWolf" from a Chuck Norris movie (family reason) wasn't available and wolves were also too overrated.

So looking for another animal I had affinity with I found myself looking for tigers, I was born under the chinnese symbol of the tiger, and I became a living symbol of that belief, a tiger on china is a protector and symbol of good fortune, people born under their influence are leaders or the weird guys you meet at parties, the quiet ones that smile and give an earwhen you need one, or simply the guys that know the pedal brakes are there, but why use them?

Since then I stayed with my name and live up to it.
Accept to imitations, this one is the one and only LoneTiger.

Chank Diesel

I am not Chank Diesel, however.

He also does other art, and has had showings at the Smithsonian and things. My brother and I went to go to his studio during an art crawl, and his name got involved in a sort of joke between my brother and I.

Fodder....the George Michael song was what first popped into my head when I saw you. Hehehehe...nice thread.

As for me, Boingo comes from the 80's band Oingo Boingo. I think most of you know that by now. If you don't know them, you probably know the movie Weird Science. They wrote that song. They also have a 'cameo,' so to speak, in Sixteen Candles. At the dance, they play Dead Man's Party. Babe...ehhh, the only reason I picked this word was for illiteration. It has no meaning at all. Besides, most of you just calll me Boingo anyway.

Hmmm, I didn't know they did a Doors cover. I guess I'll have to check out that movie.

if i knew how i got my name i'd tell you. my name used to be bloodshot due to the fact that the right half of my right eye is perpetually bloodshot. but i decided that i needed a new name. so i just bounced around a couple of idea's and i came across an add for some MrClean product and decided 'why not'. and now it's my name for anything and everything on the computer. it really has nothing to do with my actual cleanliness(or lack thereof) and no, i'm not strong or bald, but i am known to only wear white t-shirts

They also played 'Dead Man's Party' on the movie Back to School. Cool music!

Anyway, I think my name is pretty obvious. I just like animals, but I had to think of just one in particular. I was going to be Cheetah instead of Chameleon, but decided on Chameleon.
