Oh I think I've heard of Under the Influence of Giants recently. Not sure if this band is obscure enough to qualify, but I like Mae. It's kinda emo and sounds vaguely like Death Cab for Cutie (though if you listen to each back to back they won't seem very alike... Death Cab is the only way I could describe em).

I dont think Buckethead is very popular but is so good you should check it out sometime 

Both are soothing types of music, much like Delerium or Enya.

Kiss Kiss Dunno how to describe the sound. "Rock violin" is how it was introduced to me. It's got a classical feel, kind of like Queen. "Dress Up" is my favorite song. 

Yeah, I love bands that do that. It's really cool to listen to multiple times then suddenly realize there's more depth to it.

I have two bands I've recently come to enjoy. The first band is Explosions In The Sky. This band is an all instrumental band, but isn't computer processed... just a guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard. I'm going to see them live April 12th which I cannot wait for ($12... awesome). Their songs range from soothing to very up beat and energetic, but nothing heavy.... but all around some of the best instrumental I've ever heard. The second band is Band of Horses. Their new album "Cease to Begin" is fantastic (except 1 song, too country for me). Their an indie rock band that sounds a lot like The Shins, but still original. The album at least is worth a listen, especially if you like indie stuff.  

Haven't heard the new Nightwish yet, but I'll definitely give it a listen. 

Vega4 closely resembles Snow Patrol, another one of my favorites, but I think they do the Snow Patrol sound slightly better. I like Vega4's lead singer. Anyways, both are available for cheap on amazon. That's where I got 'em! 

Was going through some old albums i've done. Check out Super junky Monkey - All girl Japanese rock/punk , fantastic musicians Remy Zero - I think they do the theme for smallville but I did their 1st record, check em out, sorta U2'ish, I really like Cinjin's vocals.

A couple of months ago I was flipping through some of my songs in itunes that I've rarely listened to. One artist I came upon was Rock Kills Kid. Their song, Hideaway, was a free download that I snagged a couple of years of ago but never really gave it a listen. I liked what I heard so I picked up a copy off of amazon and now I've wondered where they've been all my life! To me they sound a bit like The Killers. They only have one CD out, Are You Nervous?, which has some great tracks like Paralyzed, Midnight, and Hope Song. Definitely one of my favorite CD's of all time.

Heh, was blasting the Pandora today and hit a band I had long forgotten about... The Advantage Geek rock in it's purest form. Has anyone heard of Hollywood Undead? I just heard one of their songs the other day. it's pretty good I think. the song is called "Undead." to me it sounds like some rock mixed with rap type stuff, but then again I'm not that into genre stuff, if I hear a song I like, I listen to it lol.

I know this band is getting a bit more well known, but Shiny Toy Guns has a new album out "Season of Poison." They have a new lead female vocalist as well. I personally love the new album, but it's definitely more rock than their first album. They haven't lost their sound, but it's much heavier this time around. I'm going to see them in concert tonight so I'm ecstatic, but I highly suggest the album if you liked their first! 

I've heard a little bit of the new album, and I really like it, but not in the same way that I like We Are Pilots. The female singer (I forget her name) left to join a band called Versant (it's on myspace music).
