Awesome, I love this since I've just started to watch the movies people have been raving about for some time and now in college everyone owns them! So, the first movie was Chronicles of Narnia. I read the books when I was young and loved them, but didn't think it would be a great movie so I put off watching it for awhile. I was extremely wrong, this is a fantastic movie, the story is right along with the book and the filming is top notch. If you haven't seen it, this is a definate! 9/10 for me Second was Saw. The name and concept are not too appealing to me, but from the hype I had to see it. It is creepy and gross at times, but for anyone who watches horror movies it's not too bad. I liked the whole mystery aspect of it, and what sold me was the ending to the movie... absolutely the best ending to a movie I've ever seen. Liked the movie for the most part, loved the ending so it gets an 7.5/10 Lastly I just finished The Boondock Saints (not 3 minutes ago for the first time). Older, but also very good. The story is very well done and the characters are excellent. This may be my favorite William Defoe(Goblin from Spiderman) movie ever. It reminds me of Batman Begins in a sense only a much better script and actors. It's more on the action side, but is good for some laughs. Another great movie and it will also get a 9/10. -on a side note, these three movies are some of the best movies I've seen in a long time. So up top there's something for everyone!

lol........seems like a lot of u guys love horror flicks......as for me, well, I just can't say no to any horror movies no matter how they bad are......i mean, i rented house of the dead 1 and 2 which are both pretty bad movies and i still enjoyed it. (even in the back of my head, i was telling myself dat the movie was bad and it was but i still enjoyed it since i love zombies and there's not alot of zombie flicks nowadays......the recent ones are, dawn of the dead, land of the dead, shaun of the dead and 28 days later(kinda zombie flick but technically those are not zombies)......arghh.....just can't get enough of those zombies......oh well i think they're makin a new remake of a george romero zombie flick so ill hav to wait for dat........still waiting for grudge 2 and texas chainsaw massacre prequel........argh.....i love horror movies.....

horror flicks are one thing but The Hills have eyes was the WORST movie i have EVER seen. just the first 45 min was all i watched and that was enough. it wasnt scary but disgusting, revolting and down right WRONG. i suggest NO one wach this show. especialy if you have any kind of...abuse..in your past. then again i did see the unrated version so it showed alot more but still.... :-&  

New movie: I'll say it's the movie with Jonnie Knoxville in it, and it's the second of the series. So the MTV show has a second movie and it was hilarious. If you liked or loved the first one you'll greatly enjoy this one. It has its gross and disgusting parts like the first, but much more enjoyable skits. I greatly enjoyed the movie, and it's odd that Yahoo rated it so well... it's one of the higher ratings I've seen in some time. Definately worth seeing if you liked the first, you won't be disapointed. 8.5/10  

The first Grudge crepperd me out... just the way the character moved, was trippy... I rented that one, but when Grudge 2 hits theaters Oct.13, I will be there! Makes the experience much better IMO.

Ehh i enjoyed that, Ever see the ring? I thought that was the funniest thing in the world. I watched it Haloween night with a bunch of friends and couldn't stop laughing 

Ok, next movie on my list was Saw II. The first was definately worth seeing the second, but I have to say I was a bit let down. The movie differed from the first, but generally the same idea which was fine. I found the story a bit less interesting than the first and some scenes were a little more brutal for my taste, the needles almost made me quit. The ending was good, but still less as a shock as the first... (maybe nothing can compare to the first's ending.) Overall it was good, but not great like the first. I will wait to see Saw III, probably once it's out on DVD so I can turn down the volume at the rough scenes (I'm a wimp, i know lol), so 6.5/10. It just can't stack up to the first with Danny Glover in it, although Mark Walburg was pretty good in the second. 

I didn't know that. *whines* Now I'm going to have to watch it. The needles didn't bother me too much in that movie, but the part that got to me was where the girl stuck her hands up through the glass box.....ew. B_B 

ok, don't remind me, cause both those scenes gave me the creeps... but the needle one was rough, oddly enough I felt so much pressure on my back while watching that, I felt like I was getting ready to be poked by that many needles... not fun at all. The glass was rough and the fire scene doesn't compare to Silent Hill's one, that was awful! You two are scaring me more than the movie... :-SS  

lol......u guys can't stand too much gore??......so far, i've never been grossed out by movies like saw, texas chainsaw massacre or the hostel........cmon, the blood looks like v8 most of the time......of course, they make it a bit realistic by making the surroundings darker and stuff but still it's obvious dat its fake.....at least to me :D.........i know the scenes u guys are talking about but they're not rly all dat gory.......its a bunch of needles making some lady a human porcupine and a bald guy getting incinerated inside dat thing but they're rly nothin.......so far, gory movies don't give me the creeps but stuff like the exorcist 1 and 2, exorcism of emily rose, or any movie having to do with satan gives me nightmares lol.........dat can be attributed to me being brought up as a christian lol......but now i don't go to church anymore and i'm a bit nihilistic so maybe its just guilt.....heheheheh and btw its not mark wahlberg on the saw 2.....i think, its his brother 

Now THAT'S a graphic and insane movie! My teenager wanted to watch it...so my husband and I had to pre-view it....needless to say...she hasn't watched it. Never heard of The New Kids on the Block? They were both in that "band" when I was....geez ...umm about 11 or 12...so yea, maybe before your time....geez I'm old :cry: LOL 

Oh, and speaking of horror, I think if I hear "The Right Stuff" ever again I'll probably have to be hospitalized. LOL

"Pulse" has the laziest of horror film ambitions: an endless series of characters making slow, deliberate walks to some sort of random objective (in this movie, it is usually a computer screen) with the steadily rising score beneath their paces. And then, the orchestra crashes, the sound effects are blasted at dangerously high levels, and something (ghost, corpse, animal, landlady, Dick Cheney, etc.) bursts out at the character. Over and over and over. 

Yes it's a new release, just came out on DVD this past Tuesday.

Yes I agree, I had to wait til it came out on dvd so I could watch it alone. I was able to watch it with only a couple pauses in between the movie. When I rented United 93, it took me about 5 hours to watch it, if you haven't seen that one, you should. Yes, they are both hard to watch, but for me on a personal level, I needed to, although we all know what happened on that day, I needed to watch it for a more personal reason.  

BTW... another movie recommendation... the new Robin Williams movie, NIght at the Museum looks good.

Trying to remember what all comes out this Summer... Spidey does indeed look good. Then there is the new F4 movie, and Harry Potter and Pirates. Probably a few more in there as well, since others come out in what I consider to be Spring (e.g. before Memorial day weekend). Maybe a bit more restrained than last year, but still looks good. 

Actually saw the preview for Shrek 3 last night... it looks really funny. I'm definately looking forward to Spiderman and maybe harry potter... I just know I will be disappointed like the other movies. They're good movies, but still can't come close to the books [-( , yet I'll go see it anyway lol. Definately will see pirates, I need to see the conclusion ugh... so it's looking like a great lineup this summer. oh and a side note, anyone going to see Reno 911! Miami? I can't wait for it! 

I'm not sure why they decided to make another Fantastic 4 movie. Of course, if they make a new one, it can't get any worse then the first one. I don't know, I haven't been impressed with many of the comic book movies. I wouldn't mind seeing that new Pixar movie, Ratatouille.

I rented the Fantastic 4 movie from the local library. I'm very glad I didn't pay for it. I, I just can't put into words how bad that movie was. I really don't mean to sound picky on movies, but I think they spend too much time in making the movie 'look' good and not enough time in the movie itself (ie. story, actors, etc.).  

Folks, just got back from Ghost Rider... way cool! You must go see it. For once, Cage has a role I really really like him in. And Fonda, he did a wonderful job, as did Sam Elliot. B-)

For those who know not of the Pan's, it's a fantasy show based in WW2. They call it an adult fairy tale, as it has some pretty extreme violence and gorey scenes. I will say tho that all the scenes are critical for the development of the story, none of it is gore for the sake of gore. All in all, beautiful visuals, awesome soundtrack, and a very very well told story to boot. However, the R rating is there for a reason, this flick would give smaller kids nightmares for weeks! ...some of us bigger kids are glad we have wives to keep out the monsters... Anyway, yeah! Go watch it! It is in spanish, but after the first 10 minutes your brain clicks and suddenly the subtitles aren't distracting at all. I totally loved it! The star of the show is a little girl and she totally owns her role, as well as the rest of the cast. 4 wombat thumbs and a tail way up, says I. Go see it! If you don't like it, you can buy me a guinness for your trouble. :thumbup: cheers. t.

Flushed Away was good. The slugs cracked me up. Cham and I started the Prestige last night (haven't finished it yet, no spoilers please if this starts a discussion!) but so far I like it. It took me a second to recognize David Bowie. Christopher Nolan is an awesome director. B_B

Sorry Titanium. The first hour or so of the movie was fantastic, very close to the same Discovery Channel special that Spacey was talking about. It was almost like they lifted or copied scenes. However, for the first time in ages, my wife and I walked out in the middle of the movie, extremely disappointed. It could have been Oscar material but they ruined it with ridiculous BS during the battle. I cannot recommend anyone see this movie.  

Ouch, that's harsh... I just came back from the movie and enjoyed it. I love Greek History so I was already pumped for the movie. The stylization is incredible, I love how they made the movie, every battle scene is shot perfectly. The movie stays true to the real story, however there are many parts of the battles that obviously were fictional... like the use of mythical creatures. Even though it's not 100% accurate, it is still quite fantastic.

i thought this movie the best i have seen this year!! I LOVED it!!! And in the movie your right, there were more then 300 but there were only 300 spartans. i thought the movie well VERY well done!! and I would reccommend it to ANYONE!!! Yup, they've been writing the script for a long time now. They're definitely making one, but since they threw out the last script it may not be for a bit. They're such great movies, errrr maybe not Temple of Doom *shivers* but I can't wait! 

LOL I have to admit...Temple of Doom wasn't my favorite...it was ok... my fav. of the trilogy was The Last Cruisade, but I think most will associate Raiders of the Lost Ark as the classic.

Last Crusade is definitely my favorite out of the three. The Lost Ark traumatized me as a kid. Melting flesh? Icky!

I just wish we could see a Dragonriders of Pern movie... now that would be mega B-) The same could be said of many of CJ Cherryh's books, Jordan's Wheel of Time, or David Webber's Honor Harrington Series. I thought that Pern was possible with JP1, and I think it clearly is now. The others would pretty much be as well. However, a number of those would be very very long movies.... bring em on!!! 

I can't wait for the Dragonlance Dragons of Autumn Twilight flick to release. (Supposed to be in the fall of this year, crosses fingers) I have all of the books to the series up to war of souls. (after that i think it gets a little , i don't know, not the same.)

Saw TMNT today, and, well... <3 The beginning was a little weird. 3000 years in the past, South America, and NYC all within the first 10 minutes. And I didn't like how they went to the trouble of displaying each turtle's name across the screen. Little kids who don't already know the names probably aren't going to pick up on them anyway. There were some stupid puns sprinkled throughout, but the fight scenes made up for that flaw. The motion of the turtles is extremely convincing and the environments are highly detailed, yet still retain a certain cartoon-ish feel to them. There were a couple holes in the story, like how April went from a journalist to a South America history buff/cargo delivery representative (?). Naturally they left the back door open for the next TMNT movie, but it's still very unclear of how they plan to bridge the two movies. Also, the climatic fight scene seemed really short and all too "easy." At one point I caught myself over analyzing the story and I came back to the realization that this is a kids movie and spending an extra hour to build up a stronger storyline would probably bore little kids. Overall I liked the movie and will probably buy it when it comes out to DVD.

WOW, just got back from opening nite of the Pirates of the Caribbean, At World's End. 2 1/2 hours of Captain Sparrow. No details will be released, but worth the cost of entry. 

I think Boingo and I are going to go see the new Pirates movie some time next week. I'm going in with low expectations, however. Most of the reviews I've gone through haven't said much in the way of positive things. 

Just watched Stay Alive.... a movie about a handful of gaming friends that get thier hands on a game that is being "tested". It's a horror flick, but yet has the one funny gamer guy that gives you a few laughs. I believe it's rated R from strong launguage, violence and some very brief nudity. I actually rented it because my teenage daughter wanted to watch it, so I had to screen it first.... overall I'm gonna say it was a decent movie, I really thought it would be a total B, but I got a lil freaked out now and then and thought it was cool that within like the first 30 mins of the movie Unreal Tournament got some props. Not too shabby IMO. If we were rating from 1-10...10 being totally awesome... I would give this movie a 7...maybe I'm being a lil generous, but I'm a true gamer and enjoyed watching a gaming type of movie. Sub

Just got back from seeing 1408 My opinion on it, is that it wasn't very good. Wasn't scary, just a lil strange. Expected it to be better, but I should know by now that these new "scary" movies aren't all that, (with the excpetion of Saw(s) ). If you want to see it, wait for the dvd release...

It's the crowd that makes all the difference. Because every person in the audience was a HP fan, we all ooo-ed at the sight of Cho and shared hatred towards Umbridge. And the girls went nuts whenever the Weasley twins appeared on screen... hahaha

Pyro and I just went to Stardust on Friday, and I must say that was a ridiculously enjoyable movie! Awesome acting all around, great effects, fantastic story, and seriously funny! If you haven't seen a preview, heres the link! http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/stardust/large1.htm Great show, 4 stars, 10/10 and all that. A good solid fairy tale that does a great job of embracing how cliche they all are, yet still telling a great story. Anyway, yeah, go see it! Bourne Ultimatum wasn't too bad. Boingo and I saw it. I would say that it was probably the best out of the three, but there was just something about it that made me not think it was a 'great' movie.

Yeah, PyRo and I just saw Ultimatum last night, loved it! The steadycam thing was rough for the first 10 minutes or so and then my mind settled into the groove and I had a total blast! Holy wicked fight & chase scenes, Batman! ...speaking of Batman, the teaser for the sequel to Batman Begins entitled The Dark Knight played before our movie...ooooh psyched!! Heath Ledger plays the Joker, I was skeptical at first, then I heard is voice in the trailer and yeah, no worries now. Then today, I found this promo poster with him in costume/makeup. ...and now, it's my must-see movie for 2008! The first one was incredible and this has the same cast&crew so yeah, oughta be awesome! Anyway, back to work! cheers. t.

Count your blessings, man. It's a lot cheaper for PPV or video than the theater. 

So I saw, I Am Legend this evening. I had very high expectations because it seemed like an amazing premise. The movie as a whole is good, different from many other survival/disaster movies. Will Smith is amazing in it, his best performance in my opinion, and the special effects (like the destroyed NY city) are pretty amazing. The story is interesting, but I thought it could be explained a more than it was. It's easy to understand, but more of the backstory would have been nice. It's definitely a suspenseful movie, not necessarily scary, but my friends and I jumped in our seats many times. So if you're looking for a good above the average disaster or survival movie I would recommend this.

I'm going to pick it up - saw a review (on TV) of the book and it looked interesting - unfortunately I have about 6 books that I need to read before that one (work/busines-related stuff)

...MAJOR kudos for Johnny Depp and Helen Bonham-Carter for taking singing lessons and studying for their roles. Apparently, Bonham-Carter has wanted to play the female lead (Her name escapes me) since she was young. I'd say 4 out of 10. B_B 

I know, I know....I actually felt guilty thinking I wasn't really enjoying it. I love Burton/Depp films, but I really think it was because it was a musical! I just couldn't get a grasp on it.....Maybe if I had seen the play first.... B_B

I love musical plays...(I enjoyed every play I saw in New York) Maybe its just different with it being on TV. Not quite the same experience. I already said I felt guilty! Leave me alone already! :(( Ok, so on to the next. I watched Stardust this morning....it was ok. Typical guy fighting for love, coming across pirates, witches, etc. I really enjoyed Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert DeNiro, but the story didn't hold my attention. It made me think of a different version of the Princess Bride...only not quite as good. B_B

I've only seen one 'musical' and that was Phantom of the Opera, which I liked. Seeing and hearing something live is totally different then on a T.V., though. You can tell when someone has a natural tallent for doing certain things, as in this case, singing. The people in the one I saw were excellent. The guy playing the Phantom was ok, but the lead female role, she was outstanding.  

I may see it then - being the same age as Spacey, I remember the cartoon from my childhood as well (one of my favorites - I knew all the buttons!) but I have heard nothing but horrible reviews about the movie, so I was waiting for the video. Thanks Spacey! 

JAlso be prepared for the awesomeness of seeing an entire guard party get dropped with a compound bow. After watching this, I'll bet John Rambo could dust Chuck Norris in a heart beat. :-D 

Has anyone seen Indiana Jones yet? Good or bad, I hope the franchise stops with this movie. 

I saw it last night. It definitely wasn't as good as the last ones, but I was told not to expect anything. Has anyone else seen it? Did you raise an eyebrow at the 'monkey' part in the jungle? Is it me or was that overly dramatic? And I wasn't as archeological as I would have liked (I can't explain too much more without giving things away). Shia Lebouf did a good job as a motorcycle punk though. And I always enjoy the parts where Indiana is either fighting the bad guys on moving vehicles or when he's crawling through dark caves with tons of spiders and a fire-lit torch.

I saw the Guardian the other day and i have to say for being an Ashton Kutcher film i REALLY liked it! It was interesting to see what they have to go through to be a Rescue Swimmer. makes e wonder how close it is to the real deal. i give it a 9/10

Yah, for having Ashton in it, it wasn't that bad of a movie. Yes, that is pretty close to what they go through. It really is a tough school. The line in the begining of the school where he says all the hype about when there are storms that ground this and that like the U.S. Navy, "We go out". That is basically true. No matter what the conditions, the Coast Guard will fly out into it. I think the Coast Guard has some of the best pilots and crew in the world.  

Golden Compass - 9/10 Really enjoyed this! Visual effects were awesome, as was the story. My only issue with it was, when it ended, I felt like I had just finished a really cool preview for a really cool movie. Can we say, "Holy Sequel, Batman!"? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0934963/ We'll see... 

I haven't seen it, but the Golden Compass was supposed to be the first installment of a trilogy, but I heard that since the sales weren't so good it was questionable now.  

Cham and I saw Wanted yesterday. I enjoyed it, but towards the middle and the end it got a little 'dramatic' I guess. There were a couple things that seemed corny, but the first half was awesome! I just love Angelina Jolie...she totally kicks butt. There are a couple twists that made me think "whoa!" I'd say a 5ish/10. B_B 

well this one isnt as old as those but its still an oldie (1980)! i love it! it was when Christopher Reeves was still doing movies! Its called Somewhere In Time. Its an amazing movie! If you havent seen it, do! 

Anyway, give it a watch! We saw it on a digital screen, non-IMAX. I've now heard a few people (including the review writer) who though the IMAX experience was detrimental to the movie.  

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned the new Star Trek movie... I was taken out to see it by a friend as a part of our "get out of the girl's hair while they hold their bridal shower" trip, and it was fairly good. I liked the characters, and for the most part liked the story line, but found the differences from what I expected (avoiding spoilers) a little bit of a distraction. I would give it a 7/10, and will definitely want to get it when it comes out on DVD. BTW... one thing I did not think was well thought out... no way would they be building starships on the surface of the Earth. Maybe a shuttle, but even those would likely be built in orbit, since that is where the material resources and energy would be more plentyful.

Haven't had a chance to see it just yet, the big man will be home tomorrow, so maybe we will go this weekend, but I have to ask what's with the controversy about some "racial robots"? Is it as bad as the media is making it out to be? If anyone can answer without giving too much away....

So I just saw Transformers in Imax and I gotta be honest... I wasn't that thrilled. I thought the forest scene was pretty sweet, but overall I didn't think it was great. The movie is pretty much solely action, which isn't bad, but sometimes a bit too much. The movie looked amazing and the action was a bit less confusing than the first movie (clearer on what robot was doing what to another robot haha), but I just thought it wasn't nearly as good as the first. I was pretty pumped for this movie, but I thought some of the lines/scenes not involving robots were just ridiculously laughable at times. I apologize for being so harsh on a pretty popular movie heh, but loved the first, not so much a fan of this one.

Just saw GI Joe today. I heard on the radio that you have to put yourself in like a 9 year old mind-set. And I can see where the guy got that. The movie was pretty cool action wise but it was definitely more for younger kids. I don't know how to explain it really. The parts where the bad guys are talking about their plans made me laugh sometimes, because thats where you can tell the movie was made more for younger kids. I wouldn't say don't go see this movie, but it wouldn't be the first one on my list of movies to tell you to go see either..

So I just got back from seeing Saw 6..... if you're into the Saw movies at all...WOW! It was great right from the start! Goes into a TON of detail that runs through a couple of the older movies... Go see it! This movie gets a biased 10/10 from me cuz I love em.... haha

I totally agree. It was so lame. I'm glad I didn't pay anything to see it... (my friends work at the theater near me :) ) If they had added some scary music I think it would have been a different story. But that probably would have destroyed the whole blair-witch-o-vision thing they had going on. 

(well, for some reason, Regan coming down the stairs upside down and backwards makes me want to pee my self.)  

And for the love of everything, when you go downstairs to investigate something creepy, turn on the flipping lights!! Grrr! :) B_B  

So two movies... Disney's Up: Loved this movie, great story and animation was awesome. It's extremely inventive and fun, definitely recommend this movie to everyone!

I agree, it was one of the cutest Disney movies I've seen in awhile! 

i know this is for movies and all and i kinda mentioned it in the other thread but its worth mentioning twice! its a tv show called DEAD LIKE ME!!!! it was aired a few years back but its one of the best tv shows ive ever seen! im SO mad they canceled it after only 2 seasons and then made a not so great movie to "wrap it up" but seriously you need to watch it! if you have net flix its on instant watch!! :-D 10/10!

YES! I LOVE that show! So original and hilarious. I bet you found it on netflix streaming. :)

Theater prices are nuts.... And then you try and buy nuts and it costs you more than what it did to get in. $20 for you and your SO for a movie? NOT. Red Box and some munchies... $3.50

Just finished watching "Warrior's Way" a great Kung-fu/Western not for the kids violent,bloody,and dark at times The visuals are beautiful , the lighting in the fight scenes is top notch very stylish think "The man with no name" with a Katana 

just watched Rango with the girls last night, not bad

I recently had the pleasure of watching Kill The Irishman, starring Ray Stevenson. It was an intriguing dramatization of a real-life figure, Irish thug Danny Greene and his war with the Italian Mob. While not a spectacular film, it was nonetheless engaging and entertaining, and Stevenson was phenomenal. Definitely not one for the kids (lots of people getting shot, stabbed, beaten up, blown up, etc), but if you like mobster movies or "based on a true story" pictures, I highly recommend it.
