Cutting the AM class off at the knees

Well I see the complainers have won again and the AM class is a shadow of its former self. I must admit it was quite humiliating playing my AM character with the new "adjustments". It seems whenever skilled players excel on this server, instead of being rewarded they are punished. Granted the majority are still playing a game released almost 5 years ago that most have forgot about but I still think that there should at least be some kind of voting instead of one persons preference. I understand that a lot of work is put into this server, especially by a few people but I thought this was a community not a dictatorship. After reviewing the threads and posts associated with this, the "problems" that were adjusted were never mentioned by any other player before they were changed. Instead these changes were fabricated from what?

Well you have definitely fixed the problem, and at this rate there will only be yourselves to play with, and you wont have to sorry about skilled players.

This is Micron, over and out. Been fun playing with you all, had a blast. But its time to move on from this server, been playing here far to long anyways, maybe its time to grow up.

Re:AMs getting xp for team activities

Well here I go again posting about something that will probably be ignored anyway. I find it hard to come up with ways to "fix" the AM class to make it more team friendly when the class is in many ways more team oriented than the WM.

There is nothing wrong with the AM class, except for the triple plus artifacts problem that we have discussed to exhaustion.

Although there is no doubt in my mind it would be nice to have other ways to score adren and XP but why?

The whole point of playing on a server like this one is so that you can play how you want . If you want to join the group hiding behind the blocks and use spheres...great! If you want to go around killing things and fend for yourself....great! If you want to spend the entire map healing yourself and others...fantastic! You want to hand out every good weapon you come across instead of increasing your score....why not!? If you want to keep the weapon for yourself to give yourself an edge....not recommended...but hey thats up to you!

My point is it doesnt matter how team oriented you make a class, this server is about individual preference and skill levels from amateur to pro.

Next we will be cutting medics off at the knees so they cant gain xp from damaging monsters.

Seriously, this game is going to be 5 years old soon, dont you think we should just play it and enjoy it?

Re:Beam/Bolt balance

Honestly, its always going to be something on this server, somebody gets extremely good with one technique, other players complain and the next thing you know its gone/changed.

This is the best server to play on, dont get me wrong, and I love playing here, but thats the way its been since I started playing here.

There is always something that somebody seems to think is not fair/unfair advantage-wise and then it gets nerfed/changed.

The reality of the situation is that extremely skilled players are on this server and they are going to be extremely good. Unfortunately, that always results in changes to the server to try to "balance" classes.
(It doesnt help that these players spend an incredible amount of time on this server, and when you add up the XP from all classes for one player, you would be blown away).

Skill players are not allowed to excel for one reason; players will emulate his/her playing style until everyone is playing the same. Good players will always find a way to excel above the rest!

Thanks Szlat much appreciated
oh and ps you can ask micron ;))

Elite is right, Medics are impossible to kill in deathmatch. I realize this matters little to the majority, but since we are beheading the AM class specifically for death match then maybe some time should be wasted also on decreasing the Damage reduction of Medics during DM...etc.
The only way I could ghost/kill Elite was with the triple/bolt. I shot a deemer point blank in his face, (which destroyed the node during an onsalught map, just to put the amount of damage into perspective) THEN my ultima went off!!! And he hadnt even ghosted yet!!!

Not to mention he had titans throwing rocks at me!!!

Re:Beam/Bolt balance

I dont agree at all with the inability to use it with the double damage.

So if you accidently pick up a DD from someones lucky wep you cant use either the bolt or the beam!?!?!?!

Great now we have to worry about dodging DD's as well. This would be fantastic when you are the only player left. Sheeesh. Think about this one.

How about some descent XP for playing support??? I dont think capping the class so this extent is neccessary....especially if you are not going to increase the XP to promote more "thinking".

Obviously all of the opinions and thoughts put into this thread have not been considered. The problem was the triple used together with the bolt/beam. The rest of this stuff is unnecessary.

Honestly, has anyone ever even used the poison blast?? And the freeze blast rarely even freezes anything.

I like the mega blast damage increase though, I seem to remember a thread about it a long time ago.

Re:Beam/Bolt balance

Hmm I like this idea....

I wonder how hard it would be too code if, for instance, you had too shoot a regular weapon 5 times(for example) before either of these artifacts could be used......

First loads of weapons got their damage reduced because they were too powerful with the triple. Then the flak+5 was nerfed to +4. Then you could no longer run the double magic modifier with the triple. Then no rage weapons or vorpal weapons. Then no piercing weapons. Now no rod, beam or bolt. So many hacks in the code just to try and get round the fact the triple itself is the problem. Get rid of the triple, then you can balance every thing else a lot better. But no, everyone secretly likes being overpowered.

I disagree that this combo falls into these same categories. I doubt very much that a score of 5000 was possible with any of these other examples.
I believe that a score of 5000 is possible using the trip +bolt/beam.

Re:Beam/Bolt balance

The bolt and beam by themselves are not the problem.

THE PROBLEM IS BEING ABLE TO USE THE TRIPLE WITH THESE ARTIFACTS.

If you are running a triple and then using your rod warlords and queens die with very little adrenaline usage. Titans fall like skarj when you use a trip with the beam.

When I was not aware of this combo I could still outscore on a map significantly but not to the extent that I see now.

I have seen certain players put up 3000+ scores joining halfway though a small map using this combo.

Nerfing the adrenaline surge is the worst possible solution to the problem.

 Szlat wrote:

So, if you have 5 people in your sphere, you will get 60 xp - which is comparable with the 63 xp you would get from killing the 9 skaarj with the bolt I mentioned earlier in the thread.

The only waves you would ever use the invul. sphere on would have much more XP out there walking around than 9 skaarj, why waste all your adren to get 60 XP when you could be out gaining 500+ XP on a titan wave??

Up until about 6 months ago the LA class was all but extinct until a few of us wanted to see what the class was truly capable of, there were very few high level LA characters still playing and getting a weapon maxed was a luxury. Now it seems there are always a few LA players on and most are emulating what they have learned by watching others. So unfortunately instead of these characters all being played to individual taste they are all playing the same way......this is very frustrating for all other players.

Simply stop the abililty to use the triple with rod/bolt/beam and this will fix the problem.
