Re:Movie Reviews

So I just saw Kick-"butt" and thought it was pretty good. First it's pretty violent and over the top....kind of like a light Kill Bill. So this movies definitely not a typical superhero movie, but one that shows the dangers of the job more realistically. The movie's quite odd, but story and characters are great! Nicholas Cage is fantastic and his character with Hit Girl make the movie. Pretty funny at times, but not a straight out comedy. Definitely recommend it, just be ready for some violent superhero action heh!

Re:Obscure or Little Known Bands...

Ok, so I stumbled upon this treasure that I am absolutely ecstatic about. I'm a huge Shiny Toy Guns fan and apparently did not know their full history. Well, their keyboardist and lead male singer created two bands together prior to Shiny and much of it has been incorporated into STG.

The bands are Slyder and Cloud2Ground. Slyder is an Electronic/Trance band and Cloud2Ground is a mix of trance and vocals...more of an actual band. But some song parts now on actual Shiny Toy Guns albums. What's great is that their work is FREE.

**Now I downloaded everything using their free downloader, which limits your downloads per hour, thus you can only download about half the stuff before you have to wait an hour to download the rest** (worth it!)

http://slyder.clan.su/index/slyder/0-4 (For Slyder)
http://slyder.clan.su/index/cloud2ground/0-5 (For Cloud2Ground)

Also random, but one of their songs was featured in Grand Theft Auto 3 so some may recognize "Score" from the game if you played it.

So two movies...

Disney's Up: Loved this movie, great story and animation was awesome. It's extremely inventive and fun, definitely recommend this movie to everyone!

Ninja Assasin: Just saw this movie and it's not good haha. First off the plot wasn't really what I expected, a mix of random detectives and ninjas, rather than solely a ninja movie. Second, the movie's very very bloody, so over the top that my friends and i laughed through most of it (definitely not for the younger ones). The action's cool at points, but the plot is so laughable it kills the movie.

Hey Ratar...anything on The Sugar Report? Been looking forward to a completed album, but haven't seen any new info on it since last year.

As for a new band... Living Things is a band I found just browsing Amazon for a few hours...really digging their album Habeas Corpus, great stuff!
http://www.myspace.com/livingthings

Also I mentioned buying Your Vegas' album after I saw them live last December. Fantastic rock band, album's amazing, highly recommend them too.

It's been awhile since i"ve posted some bands, but at the moment these are two of my favorites from the past 10 months heh.

I saw this too over the weekend and I'm actually on the opposite side. I didn't think it was really scary, but suspenseful and creepy. I simply enjoyed it because the actors are great and ghosts/demons are more interesting to me than say a traditional horror flick. If you go in expecting to see the "scariest movie ever" as it's been deemed I'd say you may not like it heh... but it's generally just creepy, and the last few minutes are crazy. So not too scary, I just enjoyed it overall...like watching an episode of Ghost Hunters that's more intense.

Just saw GI Joe today. I heard on the radio that you have to put yourself in like a 9 year old mind-set. And I can see where the guy got that. The movie was pretty cool action wise but it was definitely more for younger kids. I don't know how to explain it really. The parts where the bad guys are talking about their plans made me laugh sometimes, because thats where you can tell the movie was made more for younger kids.

I wouldn't say don't go see this movie, but it wouldn't be the first one on my list of movies to tell you to go see either..

So I wanted to add to this, just in case people were hesitant on renting this when it comes out. First off I was extremely nervous about this movie because the trailers made it look dreadful. I'm a huge GI Joe fan so was worried this would ruin childhood memories heh. But anyway, I thought it was fantastic, it's a great action flick and the story was classic GI Joe. There are those few moments for kids but otherwise I thought it was well made. Best part for me is that they integrate all the Joe's history throughout the movie, so you get to see their origins which is really great. So wayyyyyy better than the previews, worth seeing!!!
