BadBoneCrusher told me German PC game magazine Gamestar has an article on BattleRPG in the 03/2008 issue (page 116).

In ut2k4 invisibility is almost useless, as the bots & monsters just keep on going like you weren't invisible.
AFAIK it works a lot better in UT3.

I have played it, looked at the code, connected it with BattleRPG, exchanged all kinds of information with the author etc.
It seems technically superior to Galtanor and it looks better. The game side is less though, the monsters are not that great and the radar is less useful than Galtanor's one. Especially since there are no real Invasion maps for UT3.
If he spends some time on creating a bunch of great monsters and improves his radar he might surpass Galtanor at some point, but for now Galtanor is the more interesting version IMO.
A small annoyance is that this Invasion multiplies all scores with 10. I hope he will switch to regular scoring at some point, but if not I will adapt the way BattleRPG calculates XP and Mana for this.
I discussed this with the author and he will make the score configurable and (at some point) improve the radar. He is working on some very interesting monsters ATM.

you can however have multiple gamespy accounts and thereby have more than one character.
Yes, but that is not the point here I think. You cannot just change your name in the game, e.g. to the name of another existing player.
But even if someone finds a way around this, BattleRPG does not have a reset button, so you cannot harm someone that way.

I was just checking to see if it got changed, because I remember awhile back I was playing Gal's Invasion against a bunch of Hammer Krall. I turned on God Mode thru the console as a cheat, and I would get the double damage pickup knocked out of me.
If it works that way there, the God mode artifact will work the same.

What about that one issue regarding Adrenaline Drip (UT2k4) and the manuel flying of a redeemer problem? The problem I was talking about with the Drip was, when someone had the Adrenaline Drip, and was flying the deemer, they wouldn't get the adrenaline during that flight.
This doesn't happen very often (flying the Redeemer) so why is this such an issue? I have added it to my to do list, so at some point I will perhaps look into it.

P.S.: I love your 'Sell' option in the ability menu...Thats something I wish the UT2k4RPG had.
My own flavor of UT2004 RPG also has a sell all option (it's called rebuild there).

Well, isn't the Login Username only for the establishment of the GameSpy connection? Am pretty sure that, once inside, the User can change their name or multiplayer name, like UT2k4's 'setname ___' command
No this is not (yet) possible with UT3.

What is great about Galtanor is the monsters, which is of course essential for Invasion. Especially his latest version, 007, has some very nice monsters.
What I like less about Galtanor is the bugs, it has too many of them for now. Galtanor is working very hard on solving them though, so I think in time this will be a non issue.
My own invasion server is running Galtanor and AFAIK it is the more popular of the two.

On my way back from school, I remembered that the Alt-fire for the Impact Hammer causes the victim to drop any powerups they have on them, like Double Damage.
If the victim was using the Invulnerability globe, and had the Double Damage power up, when they get hit by the alt-fire, would they still drop their double damage?
Wow, that's a complicated question. I have no idea actually. My God mode (it is called god mode in BattleRPG not invulnerability globe) is based on the God mode in UT3. So the way God mode works would determine what happens here.

I say this to ask if in the new RPG is it tied to both username and Cd-key like Ut 04 (which to me ..seems redundant..) or is it tied only to the username as they are unique and noone else on UT3 will have the same one at any given time?
BattleRPG currently only looks at the username, since that is indeed unique now with UT3. Actually I also have code to look to the Uid but I have disabled that for now. Perhaps I will enable it in a future version if that would ever seem useful.

BTW my server does not have classes, so the class lovers will have to wait for the real thing at disastrousconsequences.com.

Also have a suggestion for maybe a future ability.
Shield Regeneration / Max Shield Increase.
Now i know that Armor comes in basily 4 parts. Heres the idea.
All regenerate at 1 per 3 seconds
Level 1 - Regenerates Head Armor (Up to 20 Points of Head)
Level 2 - Regenerates Leg Armor (Up to 30 Points of Leg) (50 Total)
Level 3 - Regenerates Body Armor (Up to 50 Points of Body) (100 Total)
Level 4 - Regenerates Shield Belt Armor (Up to 100 Points of Shield Belt) (150 Total)
So at level 1 would give 1 per 3 seconds and it would be as Head Armor
2 would be technically 2 per 3 seconds and it would be seperated at Head and Leg Armor
3 would be 3 per 3 seconds and would be seperated into all 3
4 would be 4 per 3 seconds though I think its hard capped at 150 shield points.
Of course the stipulation that you cant be hit for X amount of seconds before regeneration would apply. Just a suggestion.
Armor is very complicated in UT3, so an armor ability would be as well (as you described here). I prefer things to be simple, so for now I won't touch armor.
Dracos wrote:
Also just being curious. Is there an upper bound to the number of levels an ability can have. I want to try an expierement with some very high level abilities and wondering how high the ability can be set.
No there is no real technical limit, but at some point it becomes hard to use (have to bang too many times on BUY to get it) and I suppose at some point some parts of UT3 will get overloaded. E.g. I think weapon speeds will collapse at some point.

Hmm, I get a UT3 Critical Error Message when trying to use v7. This is the One thats on the default .U File one not the invasion .U File. Reloaded v6 and it worked fine.
I put the wrong version in the root of the zip. This should be solved in V7.1. You can get V7.1 from http://bigbattleservers.com/battlerpg.php. Please let me know if this solves your problem.
Dracos wrote:
On a side note, is it possible to change the key bindings. I'm not really an wasd user and more of a arrow key/numpad user.
Yes, I implemented console commands "brpg use artifact", "brpg first artifact", "brpg next artifact" and "brpg prev artifact" so you can bind this to keys.
Dracos wrote:
Also is it still planned to have the .ini file be able to fine configure the abilities/weapon mods more then they are.
Example
DynamicAbilities=(Id="AmmoBonus",AbilityClass=Class'BattleRPG.BattleAbility_AmmoBonus',AbilityName="Ammo Bonus",AbilityDescription="Your weapons can hold 10% more ammo per level.",AbilityMaxLevel=10,AbilityLevel1Cost=5,AbilityCostIncreasePerLevel=0)
Where 10% can be changed to X%.
No but you can change the cost and the max level. So if it is 10% but you would prefer 20% you could double the number of levels and make it half price to achieve something similar.
Dracos wrote:
On a second side note, Mana Regeneration on weapons is a little quick. Shouldnt it be a little slower as if you have one of these, your mana is full in like 1-2mins.
It is indeed quicker than the Mana Regeneration ability. However you can have that ability permanently. You can only have 1 active type of weapon magic at a time so you can not use anything else while using it there.
Dracos wrote:
Just came to me, will the experience be available to be changed in a future version.
Yes, I intend to make the required XP per level configurable. You can already change the number of RPG$ players get per level BTW.

On the Invisibility, is it the same deal with UT2k4 in that, when Player (A) becomes invisible and Computer Player (B) fight, that B ignores the invisibility of A? Like A isn't even using invisibility?
I use the invisibility that is included with UT3, AFAIK it makes you invisible to everyone.
