I'm not sure about this one, but I did take a close look, and figured out that vamp is not triggering off poison damage. If Dru gives me a greenlight, I might look into fixing that.

I don't think it's supposed to.

It doesn't trigger Leech either.

The reason is most likely because the Poison is given to the victim as an inventory object that continues to cause damage over time. Once it is given as an object it is no longer tied to the pawn that caused it in the first place. So there is no reason Vampirism would continue to give you health based on that damage.

Personally I think this is fair. Let the poison do the damage and then mop up the scene afterwards.

Vortex, does that mean you also don't get exp for dmg caused by DoT dmg?

I noticed recently that when I poisoned myself with a +2 poison weapon, I took no damage-over-time. I've seen this on two occasions when I was paying attention to it. Is it intended? Do the monsters take poison damage even when I don't?

Hmmm ... have any Cautiousness?

It was on my medic char, so no cautiousness yet. I just shot myself with a poison 2 shock and the "you are poisoned" message came up but nothing happened.

I think sparky was able to duplicate it on the same map.

I would say that you're perception may not be 100% correct - Dru has had the setting limiting people to 3 artifacts for a while, and has hinted that he's kept it this way because of the potential for Loaded Artifacts to create an over abundance of artifacts in the game (which, last I saw, is supposed to be limited to a total of 40, if I understand the settings I saw).

It may just be that he's finally gotten around to it on his list, but his initial attempt did not work as desired ...

Also - I thought BigDaddy had been using the term to notify folks that he'd died and his artifacts were available.

I don't know if it led to the change or not, only Dru knows that. But I do know that it caused a lot of people to get upset (and is still an issue with some).

This was at the time when uh... spirited debate was taking place claiming LA was too weak and not balanced against LW. The pinata thing was a further piece of evidence that LA players supposedly weren't getting a fair shake. In fact, it was all that which convinced me to make a LA char and find out for myself. Come to find out, not only was LA not weak at all, it was quite powerful.

Anyway, at least with your effort we (hopefully) have an elegant solution that will keep people happy.

Dropping artifacts...pinata?

i confused.

Anyhow, good work.

Not trying to jack yo' thread, bot.

I coined the term here:

I honestly really regret doing so. Before that, no one cared about this aspect of the game.
I really like the idea myself. Possibly restricting regular awareness from healers... ? Or maybe make it either/or to accomadate monster masters. Like if you buy "bad guy" awareness, you can't buy "healer awareness" and vice versa. Sort of allows you to customize the medic into a warrior type with the focus on pets, or a healer type with the focus on healing.

Thanks, it's now up to ver2, can't wait to check it out!

It has cannons that shoot you from island to island, so it's a good one for when you're the last person - you always have a place to run.

It's not that I don't care... I do care. I just don't care enough to do anything about it.

What about for a scooby snack?

I don't know about anyone else, I think that's sort of pointless, being as how they can already see how much health they and others have, and rather easily, I think.

lol...

Semi-related, I wrote an essay about my experiences in the restaurant biz a few years back, where I worked for about 4 years. I worked in a nice italian deli, a very trendy california cuisine cafe and a fairly major, upscale restaurant chain, among others.

I saw some pretty messed up stuff, but mostly just stuff that would gross you out, not likely make you sick as a result of contamination.

Here's a good gross out story.

For those of you that don't know, a bus tub is where your plates, silverware and whatever leftover food you didn't eat goes when the waiter clears your table. Then a busboy takes the tub back to the dishwasher room and empties it. This process must be done by hand or broken dishes is the result. Moreover, restaurant work is extremely fast paced. We did not put on gloves for this kind of thing. Afterwards, a quick rinse under the faucet is all we'd have time for, and that's assuming I got splooge on my hands, otherwise we often didn't wash at all.

"Slooge" was our botfodder-like term for when ten different sauces from ten different plates (everything from lemon-olive oil to alfredo) mixed in a bus tub with gnawed buffalo wings, spent shrimp shells, leftover chocolate brownie ice cream desert, etc. etc. and etc. to make the ultimate frankenstein sauce. Chunky but smooth. Salty, yet sweet. Thick yet viscous. Very vomit-like and usually thousand-island colored. Splooge is the 5th element. An enigma wrapped in a paradox. Many meditate on the mysteries of splooge.

We routinely (like a dozen times per night) had to plunge into this stuff to seperate the dishes out for cleaning. It was a dirty job and I did it. Mind you, I was also the guy setting your table.

Did all this happen at the local cheapo sizzler? No, it was at a "nice" restaurant, about $30 - 60 per plate. Splooge happens, it's unavoidable. Either you make a friend of splooge or be devoured by it. Seriously, I'm not joking. Some people were so disgusted by the "behind the scenes" of the restaurant business that they simply quit.

All those "reality" shows about restaurants are fairy tales and way over-idealized for the camera. The truth is much more sploogier.

But one guy got a little too friendly and gollum-like with the muck (the precious!). There was a cocktail waiter who we often found taking a break in the stock room behind the bar and eating leftovers straight out of the bus tubs. Then he'd wipe his hands and go deliver the next round of drinks to his tables.

Yum.

Medic awareness would add an excellent new dimension to the medic class.

What amount of dmg does the shield gun do currently? I always thought a fully charged shot did 150 ignoring DB and DR.

Does that mean that if you fully charge a shield gun and hit a monster with it, it will deal out 150 damage regardless of your Damage Bonus, and regardless of the monster's Damage Reduction? Sorry to be confused about something that should probably seem so simply to me, just trying to clarify whether or not I need to start using a different gun with my medic.

I needlessly complicated my question. What I meant was that I thought shield gun base dmg was 150.

What amount of dmg does the shield gun do currently? I always thought a fully charged shot did 150 ignoring DB and DR.
For all-around, I have to give it to the flak.

I used to watch wrestling as a kid, and I still enjoy J.R.s (of WWE) commentary.

For example: "Let me just say that Chris Benoit is tougher than a three dollar steak!"
